About this listen

Ethan West is a man of few words. He justifies nothing for no one. He's determined to enter the political race in New York. Not even the astute and gorgeous woman Maya Armstrong will stop him. A bitter ex-lover blows up his playboy lifestyle to the media and tries to ruin his chances with any woman that enters his life.

Maya's reputation precedes her on and off the screen. As the host of Spotlight with Maya, it’s her job to take people to task and hold them accountable, but when billionaire banker turned candidate Ethan West sits on her proverbial couch, sparks fly in more ways than one.

They both try and prove the other wrong throughout the campaign, but a past ex and a one-night stand may cause more drama than either one wanted to see.

Find out what happens when two alpha personalities collide! Will their rift end his campaign, or will it be the beginning of something much, much bigger, like romance?

Narrators can make or break a story

I liked the story, it was a nice and steamy romantic comedy. Teddy Hamilton did an amazing job as usual, but I struggled through Morae Brehon parts all the characters seemed like they were either old or smoked too much.

great book!!!

Don't believe the other reviews...this was a good book. The characters are well developed and it read well. I think it's different then the other cocky series because the characters are people of color, but the book was definitely a cocky hero club style and I believe the author did a good job.

overall story was pretty good

Pros
Its well written with fully developed characters. Had a lot funny moments and i love that its characters of color.

Cons
This story was kind of weird. It's supposed to be a romance but I didn't really see any falling in love. it was two people that had sex once or twice and lived separate lives and too busy to really see each other. But because this one hot time Meetup in the hotel was so amazing they are just so in love.

It's really hard to believe this couple to be a genuine couple. First of all the main male character Ethan is his point of view said that she was mouthy and he didn't like the she got all that mouth and attitude and Sass. and he can't stand seeing her open her mouth. Then all of a sudden when he sees her at the same get together or event with mutual friends then he's all hitting on her and coming on strong to her.

I was lost and confused because he just said you don't like this woman and how she irritates you every time she gets to talking and you didn't have time for no woman like that. and then the moment you seen her you all thirsty hitting on her begging her for a date?????

And he tried to fight her male friend when he joked about marrying her one day.

I mean was this an error? Did chapters get deleted on accident? or did the editor cut a major part here? because how we go for him not being able to stand her to blackmailing her... well I don't know if blackmailing her …. but basically saying that if she didn't go on a date with him he wasn't going to do the interview.

Okay so after he decides to get with her and they do their one night stand. He ghost her then acts like nothing happened and starts flirting with her when they do the interview.

It's supposed to be a romance but I didn't really see any falling in love. it was two people that have love time once or twice. They are too busy to really see each other but because this one love time meet up in the hotel is so amazing they are just say its love, I guess. if I'm going to be honest because it's really hard to believe this couple to be a genuine couple.

If they would have shown more of couple falling in love stead of them at odds it would have been better.

horrid narrator.

I struggled through chapter 8. The narrator's voices all smack of an old school Jimmy Durante. I am sure a different narrator would bring us all to the happy ending.

What a fun read!

A sexy and fun read, you'll absolutely love Maya and Ethan. Neither of them are looking for love. Their both on the fast track to moving up in their careers. Maya is super feisty and I laughed out loud at her banter with Ethan. It starts out hot and heavy with them and their both just looking for a good time. Feelings get in the mix but Ethan's ex keeps getting in the way and giving Maya doubts. A surprise makes them both realize what really matters. The narrators did an amazing job. I'm always a fan of Teddy Hamilton and he was the perfect Ethan. I really liked the new to me narrator that voiced Maya, she displayed the sassiness perfectly for her character. I loved Maya and Ethan's journey together.

Enjoyable Read

this is the first book that I’ve read in the hero club series. I hope the others are as enjoyable as this one. All 178 of them. I look forward to the next Reed. I’ll have to scroll the tit and check out which ones might catch my interest. I always enjoy listening to Morae B. and Teddy Hamilton narrating stories.

Worst of the hero club series so far.

I had a really difficult time finishing this story. The main character was not likable at all.

Just couldn't get into the narration

I came back several times to try to finish this. liked the story line for the most part, a little too redundant (Both characters repeating something stated by the previous one). Enjoyed the previous books in the series, but couldn't get past the narration.

it was ok

it touches on some hot topics but doesn't go far enough to pull your mind all the way there... touches on anal play but doesn't really go there, touches on spanking but doesn't go there, touches on restraints and toys but doesn't really go there... It doesn't really take your mind all the way... it like getting see the cookies smell the cookies but not actually getting one

Ethan and Maya

I love Teddy Hamilton, he’s always amazing. I wasn’t a fan of Morae Brehon.
This story was just ok. It didn’t feel like a romance to me, it was more of a lust filled connection. That being said it was a fun story. I didn’t love it but at the same time I didn’t hate it.
