About this listen
Ricky
My double life is crumbling around me. Denying who I am isn’t fair on anyone: the girls I tried so hard to date, the guys I’m too afraid to flirt with, or my family who don’t know the truth. I’m afraid of coming out to my mom - but if I don’t, I’ll remain in fear that she’ll find out from someone else. I’m torn between expectation and truth, and I’m not sure I can keep hiding behind a cocky grin.
I’m not ready for the gorgeous guy who challenges me in my own diner. His every word turns me on, and I’m drawn to him like a moth to flame, but if I get so close that anyone finds out, we’re both going to end up burned.
Cedar
I’m too clumsy to hold onto anything good. Everything I touch breaks, and now I’m dependent on my ex’s good graces. He runs our urban gardening charity, and his dad pays my rent. I do the dirty work, which is all I’m good for: I dig holes and plant seeds. Standing up for myself feels impossible, so I start easy. At least, it was supposed to be.
The cocky cook who couldn’t crisp up my bacon sure crisped up my sausage. Everyone knows closeted guys are a risk, and I’m great at scaring people away. But Ricky gives me the strength to be me, and I can’t stop falling for him. Not even chipped Brooklyn sidewalks can stop true love blooming.
Boiling Point is book three in the Brooklyn Boys series, where good men find their happily ever afters in a hectic metropolis. It has an HEA and no cliffhanger. There will be awkward first times, cops at the door, hiding in thrift store racks, a trouble-making bouquet, a mama’s boy coming home, and an uncontrolled flame.

Conor: It starts with a drunken text pic. The kind I would normally never send. Only, instead of it going to the flirty hotel bartender, it goes to some random stranger who actually responds. Wells: The first thing I notice about Conor Newell when he sits down in my high-rise conference room is how delightfully nervous he is. Then I see his tie. The same geeky tie that’s held hostage on my phone. The one that belongs to my anonymous late-night texter. And it changes everything.

My loser high school friend never deserved him anyway. If I’d had the chance, I would have locked Remy down years ago. Only, when the party leads to a drunken kiss, going on their honeymoon, and sharing their marital bed, I have to say, I’m not entirely sad that their wedding went up in flames.

After zero-gravity heroics left astronaut Nicolas Rogers injured, his new job as a park ranger seems perfect. Being a caretaker of his corner of the Smoky Mountains makes him almost okay with having to be on Earth. More importantly, this deep in the woods, Nico's practically a hermit at a remote ranger station. Sure, he has good friends in nearby Knoxville, but he's otherwise free from petty drama and broken hearts...until Deen enters his world.

Being invited to my cousin’s wedding really shouldn’t be a big deal except, oh yeah, I haven't seen my family for a decade. My parents turned their backs on me, and I’ve done everything since to become successful and show them what they've lost. Only it’s kinda hard to be a success when you’re a walking trainwreck.

Story
Kyran Harbor is everything I'm not. Rich. Popular. A superstar football player who's awfully broody for someone who has it all. Basically, he's a preppy jock who hates me. Oh, and he's also my stepbrother. That's right. We're stuck together, sharing a school, a house, a bathroom. Honestly I wouldn't care if he wasn't such an uptight control freak who messes with me just because we're different. I had every intention of avoiding him when we got to college. Until abrupt misfortune forces us both into a compromising position.

I’m never one to turn down a bet. Especially not when it comes to retaliating against the dean for pulling a dick move before summer break. So when the dean’s golden child arrives at Astor for his freshman year, my fellow troublemakers throw down a wager I can’t resist. The target: the dean’s son, John Thomas Hawthorne, or “JT”. The bet: corruption in any way I choose. It should’ve been easy. With his mess of brown curls, pouty lips, and good-boy reputation, JT is the perfect revenge. And even better? He’s straight.

I’ve had a crush on my brother’s best friend since the moment I laid eyes on him four years ago. Warner Ramsey is 225 pounds of pure hotness, a media darling, and one of the best NFL quarterbacks in the league. Hell, he’s the reason I figured out I’m solidly bi. It was easy to keep my crush under control when I was in college. Now, we play for the same team, and every time he talks smack, I want to shut him up. With my mouth.

And since he's my roommate for the next year, I can't avoid him. Yet there's something about him that makes me watch him. Something dark. A secret I want to uncover. When he returns from a weekend away, broken and haunted, I can't keep my distance anymore. He needs someone, and I'll be damned if it's not me.

I’m the first one to tell you I have issues. Trust issues. Family issues. Probably a few others I haven’t discovered yet. Which is why I prefer to keep my life as simple and uncomplicated as possible. Until him. Blake McAdams barrels into my life and refuses to leave. He’s relentlessly optimistic, sexy as hell, annoyingly persistent, and…wants to be friends? Because…he thinks I’m interesting? Yeah, I’ll pass. Thanks. Only, somehow, we end up doing just that.

Harrison Phillip Fletcher III isn't supposed to be here. Not in Burlington, Vermont, not running Vino & Veritas, a quaint inclusive bookstore and wine bar, and definitely not still alive, at 42. Also not supposed to be here? An unexpected delivery of chickens. Finn Barnes knows chickens. The burly organic farmer knows all about rare breed poultry, but dealing with a hot older bookseller is an entirely different matter. City-slicker types like Harrison never end up staying in Vermont for the long-term. They should steer clear of each other. But the flare of attraction is mutual.

The night we met in the dimly lit bar, she looked like a brunette bombshell, and I wanted to learn her deepest secrets. With sun-kissed skin and soulful bedroom eyes, she was pure temptation, and I was mesmerized. As one drink led to two, I craved more of her playful banter and taunting lips. Resisting her wasn't an option, and we quickly became a desperate mess of tangled limbs and hot kisses. She tasted like the sweetest sin, but I was no saint.

Mav disappeared before I could ever tell him about the child I carried. I’ve had years to get over him, and I’ve tried. But the second I see him again my heart lurches and it’s like all that time evaporates. I still burn for him, even though I know it’s a bad idea. I try to remind myself about the bad things: his possessiveness, his quick temper...but he’s different now. More mature. Protective. Settled. And hiding something. Something bigger than the child we share.

Story
Tia Monroe was smart, sassy, and successful. Sure, she could get a little crazy at times - life around Tia was never boring - but that was part of her appeal. And while she didn't see herself as classically beautiful, she had no shortage of options in the boyfriend department. She just hadn't found one who held her interest. Until she laid eyes on Eric Larsson, and then it was lust at first sight. He packed the perfect mix of smoldering sexy and unapologetic cool into his blond-haired, blue-eyed, ridiculously hot six-foot-four frame.

We come from two different worlds. I’m from the streets. She might as well live in an ivory tower. I made my living with my fists. I doubt she could even throw a punch. Our paths never should have crossed. We never should have met. That doesn’t change the facts. I would sell my soul to taste those red lips. Fight the devil himself to hear her laugh. Burn in hell to have a single night. Scarlett Priest shouldn’t even know men like me exist, but sometimes temptation is stronger than will. If this is how I go down, it’ll be worth every second of the fall.

An another awesome listen!!
I loved Cedar and Ricky!! I especially loved that E. Davies was willing to touch on CP!! I loved how Ricky and Cedar grew and changed to become better selves. Nick J. Russo did a fantastic job with the narration!

Cedar is my favorite!
Cedar is that character that you fall instantly in love with and want to bring home and surround him with all the caring and support he can stand while supporting his independence and choices. Ricky is one that is struggling to figure out exactly who he is and worries about how his family will support him. As these two forge a friendship then more, you will be pulled into their struggles and happiness so fast you won't realize it. Another incredibly touching and emotional story.

Ricky and Cedar
I loved listening to this book, it was just so down to earth. How Ricky accepts Cedar' s Cerebal Palsy and makes adjustments to make it easier on him. Wanted to punch Nathan's lights out for the way he treated him. Hope they have have the family they want. Highly recommend

Entertaining, but be prepared for lots of schmaltz
I'd give this a 3.5, rounded up to 4. I liked the plot, the characters, the addressing of ableism, Cedar's disability and the difficulties with being less severely disabled, but still having to exist in an ableist world, and the narration for the audio. I found the complications with Cedar's ex to be suspenseful, even though some might find it melodramatic, (but I like melodrama). It was good to see characters from the previous books, though not all of them did make an appearance. There were also a couple new side characters who were endearing as well. I also liked that Cedar was pretty clearly described, so far as his appearance. Davies sometimes seems to forget to describe characters beyond their build. (I can't say I had a truly clear impression of what Ricky looked like though.)
What didn't do it for me was what seemed like overdone, repetitive inner monologuing & OTP schmaltz. Nobody can think that much in between sentences in a conversation or during sex. Some of it was good, but some seemed to be just a bit too much. The dialogue between characters was often entertaining, but toward the end seemed, again, a bit too schmaltzy for my cold, jaded heart. They also fell head over heels in a short period of time that could've been extended by several weeks with more dates without the plot needing further alteration. With some of the inner monologuing cut down, it could've even stayed the same length.
That being said, if Davies ever extended the series or had a spin-off with the few characters mentioned who were not paired off, I would definitely continue with it.
As for the narration, Russo did a great job of differentiating characters, expressing emotion, etc. He did pronounce a few words incorrectly, (like cerebral palsy), but his performance otherwise made up for it.

I love THE BROOKLYN BOYS!
Boiling Point
MMy Thoughts and Review:
So, what do a closeted short order chef and an out charities fundraiser have in common? That is easy… bad taste in partners and significant others, and a meet-cute over limp bacon.
Ricky and Cedar are as different as night and day, and that is what gives them so much charm as a couple. As someone who has a disability that isn’t seen at first glance, I was able to relate to Cedar and as this character faced his trials I faced them with him. I felt his injustices with him, but I also rejoiced in his happiness with him. It was wonderful.
I adored Ricky the more the story developed, and he and Cedar got to know each other. Their relationship was so sweet to me and I absolutely absorbed all the emotions as they floated out of the book and into my heart.
Russo as always did a wonderful job breathing life into Davies’ characters. Davies is already a one-click author for me, and even if I have read their eBooks, I STILL get the audios when they are released, because reliving those stories is always a joy, and the 2nd time around I get human voices instead of humanoid through TTS, and that RAWKS! 🎧📚🎧
This series has been great, so do not miss it!! You will love, “The Brooklyn Boys!” 👨🏼🤝👨🏻🌈👨🏼🤝👨🏻

Such an excellent book and narration
Another great addition to the Brooklyn Boys series. We met Ricky in book 2 when there was a failed hook up attempt and subsequent friendship with Adam. I was glad we got to see him again and come to terms with who he is. It was so hard for him to acknowledge his feelings, but Meeting Cedar and realizing that he is stronger than he thinks finds him happiness that he didn’t think possible. I loved watching Ricky navigate his orientation and Cedar break away from his awful ex. It was awesome connecting with all of the characters from the last 2 books as well.
I continue to love everything that E. Davies writes. The stories are so great and hopeful, and the writing is really lovely.
I read this a second time by listening to the audiobook, and it was awesome. Nick J. Russo's voice brought the characters life, and I found myself more invested in them listening to the passion and inflection in the voices. Fabulous book with an excellent narration.

Touching story
I enjoyed going back to the Brooklyn Boys for another pairing. Ricky and Cedar were the kind of characters that deserve to thrive and make you cheer them. They both faced challenges in their lives, made easier by the support of the other. It was a really touching story and I just love the window into this group of friends. Listening to this makes me want to go back and at least read the first book now to see what I missed. Good job on the narration, though not completely consistent all the way through.

amazing addition to the series
This book was wonderful. we have Ricky and Cedar in this one.
Ricky is trying to figure out how he can truly be himself.
While Cedar is working on making it through another day without his ex’s voice always in his head.
As these two work on themselves and being together,
This is a wonderful book about learning to be in a relationship but also knowing and working on their own issues in life.
Nick just keeps getting better and better with each book I hear from him.

Best of the series
Dare I say this was the best of the three. I really enjoyed this story. Ricky finding himself and be able to say screw anyone for not allowing him to be his true self. Cedar - oh how I adore you - believes in the best of people but has to learn that some times not everyone has their best in mind for you. Great story. Nick Russo did a fine job telling it as well. I love his different accents for the different characters. He does a great job of keeping everyone separated. Will listen to this again.
