About this listen

Unfortunate events lead a half-vampire boy into indulging his vampire side, leaving him with regret and sadness. Can dear old Dad help him forgive himself?

Following the events in the series Witches of Galdorheim, this additional tale relates what happens to Katrina the witch's younger brother, Rune. Half-vampire and half-warlock, he faces life with a wisecrack and some powerful magic.

Whatever happens, he does not want to be a vampire like his father. Unfortunate events lead him to fatally call on his vampire half. This failure leaves him in anguish.

How can he assuage the guilt he feels? His mother thinks he needs to visit dear old Dad, a vampire residing in the Tatras Mountains of Slovakia.

Kudos to Danny Hughes-Narrator

As the author, I can only honestly review the narrator and producer. I'd say Danny Hughes is topnotch. He managed to create memorable characters by inflection, speech patterns, and accents.

Also, top marks to the audio book producer: Archieboy Audiobook Production.

If you're looking to create an audio book of your own work, look for Archieboy and Danny Hughes at ACX.

Enjoyable story

This is an entertaining audiobook with great narration. It’s a story of loss, retribution, betrayal, discovary and a teen coming to terms with who he is,

A sequel to a series, The Witches of Galdorheim

I haven't read the series this story follows, I may have enjoyed it more if I had and was already invested in the world and in some of the characters from previous stories.
The story was well paced with good prose. However I couldn't buy the logic of the antagonists plan. As a way to achieve their goals and also given the relationships the antagonist had with the other characters in the story it just made no sense to me, either logically or emotionally. As a shorter work, I'd guess it's a novelette, there seemed to be some unnecessary repetition of details and re-summation of plot points which should still be fresh in the readers mind.
The narration was good overall though let down by the handling of some foreign accents.
Overall though it was an engaging short read. If you read and enjoyed The Witches of Galdorheim series then I'm sure you'll enjoy this story.
