Aber nicht nur in Bleak House wird die Hohlheit einer Adelsgesellschaft kritisiert, sondern, wie könnte dies bei Dickens fehlen, der Blick auch auf Großstadtnot, Wohnungselend und Vernachlässigung gerichtet, ausführlich geschildert und in dem Gassenjungen Jo zum Leben erweckt.
