'Blade of the Blue Star - The Duke's Unlikely Heir - Vol 1'

Meet Reinhardt Blazkowicz. Orphan. Hero. Warrior. And now, the unlikely heir to the legendary Blue Star Duchy.

Found by the Duke himself on a battlefield, surrounded by enemies, Reinhardt's life is about to change forever. Plucked from the ashes of war and thrust into a world of unimaginable wealth and privilege, he must now trade his battle-worn armor for the hallowed uniform of Aegis Crown Academy.

There, in a world of magic, combat, and courtly intrigue, he'll need more than just his battle-honed instincts to survive.

Reinhardt is no ordinary student. Hardened by his past and wielding a raw, untamed power, he's both feared and revered by his classmates. But he's not alone in this strange new world. With his loyal roommate Baldric, the mage Xenia, and a colorful cast of companions by his side, Reinhardt will face challenges he never imagined.

At Aegis Crown Academy, Reinhardt must:

Dominate the Legion Arena: Test his mettle in the academy's intense battle sport, where strategy, teamwork, and sheer grit collide.

Master the game of nobility: The Nobleman Arts Building is his worst enemy, a series of pitfalls around etiquette, politics, and manners. Can Reinhardt navigate this 'elite' landscape?

Indulge in Chef Jason's magical feasts: In a world of nobility even the food is something else, like a chef from another world.

But Reinhardt's greatest trial may lie within himself. Can this battle-hardened survivor adapt to life among the elite? Will the academy force him to choose between the warrior he was and the leader he's destined to become?

Wow!very good

Really hard to make it all the way through this one. Don’t think I’ve disliked an MC this much in a while. He whines and complains for every little thing. Every other word is a complaint about why he has to do something. Few things are worse than a constantly complaining MC.

Then on top of that the story is just not written very well. MCs butler spends 3+ chapters trying to convince the MC to be cautious about the games the nobles play, then the first noble woman that walks up to him he instantly just agrees to whatever she says. Headmaster says he wants to see blood durning the tests during the commencement speech. Then deducts points for MC being overly violent. It’s like the author forgot what they wrote a few pages ago.

MC is a whiny child and the story is poorly written

Story felt a little rushed but I enjoyed the journey can’t wait to see more adventures and character growth!

The protagonist is a bit of an ignorant a hole for basically no reason but the story is still good and after a while you either learn to ignore it or accept it.

good

love the story and the relationship and world building. I also like how the story focus on after the battle withe demon lord most fantasy story the defeat of the demon lord is the climax and concludes after it good see a story that focus on life afterwards.

A Harry Potter like story with intrigue

I understand this is subjective, but the way the description of the book is written makes Reinhardt seem like this battle hardened badass who can bear the ignorant gossip about his commoner origins and life experience. Nope. I love this kind of stuff. It's reading junk food and I understand the kind of stuff these kinds of books usually have in them. All the expected clichés are there, but it's all off. My biggest issue is just Reinhardt's personality. He's just this big golden retriever kind of guy with no consistency on what he knows and does not know. " Hardened by his past and wielding a raw, untamed power, he's both feared and revered by his classmates." -from audible description. HAHA he sure is. I lost track of how many times the author uses the word "awe." If you are overhearing any conversation from the other background characters they are "looking at him with awe." It will drive you nuts. He also is just this big dumb goofball. The characters are alright. The magic system makes no sense. He basically just snapped his finger and suddenly because he's in a spar he learns multiple spells from nowhere as if he didn't spend his whole life fighting around/with people who can use magic and never learned it then?? I really wanted to like this book, but he just comes off as a good intentioned immature child trying to look flashy and that's not fun to read. After the 20th "I puffed my chest out from the professors praise as everyone looked at me with awe and fear" I had to take a break.
2 Star -- It's Okay. Other reviews talk about the pacing issues and wild story/plot consistency so just scroll through them.

Unfortunately Misleading

I don't think the narrator is bad. I think his voice just doesn't fit with this story. honestly, I could argue that this is a decent but generic story, but his voice in my opinion breaks the immersion. The main character is the type of person that's easily annoyed and sarcastic the narrator's voice amplifies the sarcasm and makes it cringy. It's supposed to come off as a person annoyed with nobles instead. it reminds me of an Old person that get annoyed with modern / young people. ironically, they went and got a youthful sounding woman to play the female characters which I feel it clashes with the narrator's voice. I'm not saying you need someone with a young voice, but this narrator sounds like the type of guy you hear on the radio complaining about politics. I'm crossing my fingers and hoping they release another version with a different narrator

I think this story needs a new narrator

MC is a racist, arrogant war orphan who can't be bothered to learn anything about the world he lives in, yet everyone loves him. couldn't get to the halfway point.

this is a waste of time. skip this story.
