About this listen
Orbs of fire. Bones do tell. Awaken ye pirate horde, bound by Jolly Roger’s spell.
Obsessed with revenge, Stede Bonnet sets sail for the mystical Barrier Island of Deep Magic, doggedly pursuing his nemesis, Blackbeard. Accompanying Bonnet aboard the ghost ship, Revenge, Squojo and his adventurin’ companions embark on a dangerous quest to rescue Mawdlong, a Gullah root doctor taken hostage by Blackbeard. Swept up in a tide of treachery, they will face paranormal forces manipulated by a formidable pirate wizard seeking to resurrect a powerful witch bound by an ancient curse. The only harrowing certainty is that pirates will be pirates.

Same problem as book 1
As I can't leave a review on Amazon because there's nothing to click on (no review option) and this book isn't listed under Goodreads, here you go.
With this series, I had asked for a free audiobook code from the narrator, as he's one of my favorites. He obliged and gave me one for book 1 as well. Unfortunately, I wasn't a fan of either story. I typically love ghost stories. I love anything historical, and I've read/listened to plenty of stories involving pirates. I think the writing was much better in book 2 than book 1. But I was still left with the impression that this series is for younger... maybe not kids necessarily. I honestly don't know. I just couldn't get into it (either of them).
I did take issue with Paulmetta's story, the one that Modlong(? the old woman) had originally told her. It's was just way too descriptive given Paulmetta wasn't even there to experience what the old woman had. I'm sure it was mentioned in book 1 (and I just can't remember) but what year is this story supposed to be taking place in? I only ask because Cheat(? the one ghost boy) refers to Squojo as "Dude" multiple times.

A ghost club adventure filled with pirates
A ghost club adventure (first I’ve listened to). Was just fine as a stand-alone story. Good young adult tale. Clean and good for all ages. The tale is engaging and moves at a pace that will keep you interested and engaged. The story is unique enough while Also Pulling from history for some of its characters and material. Enough that you might be able to
Trick your child into looking up and learning some history. Well narrated and well written. I was voluntarily provided this free review copy audiobook by the author, narrator or publisher
