About this listen

He thought the bloodshed was over. The true terror is just beginning...

Captain Liam Hoffen has no time to relax after defeating the Mendari. Hastily organizing an expedition to their home world, he brings his beleaguered crew across the stars to install the new leadership. But as soon as he arrives, a massive prototype warship slices into their path and threatens the entire mission.

After a daring confrontation, Hoffen pushes through to the planet. But once there, he discovers a terrifying weapon of mass destruction was launched at the end of the war. And the Mendari people are mind-controlled from revealing any secrets...including its deadly course.

Can Hoffen break through the horrific mental manipulation and stop an apocalyptic attack?

I like the characters.. But gosh!!! I hate Noah!!

can't we ever have a happy ending? the ending is like watching a tragic car accident happening in slow motion.. but we are left hanging.. we know it's going to be bad but we don't know yet who's going to suffer. Love to see Jonathan Back!!

Not bad but errors

The book itself wasn't bad and for once Liam doesnt let many murderers and rapist go. However there is the confusion with Liam saying he woke the Mendari from the moon and remembers how creepy it was, except Liam wasnt even on that mission. He sent Tabby there and she woke them , he was off preparing for war. Also they keep talking about how there is no more Translock, did everyone forget the FTL drive on Hotspur that took them to the cloud and back? It doesn't work on that substance as the old ones, it's one of a kind or so that book said. So lots of continuity errors.

Colonialism

Throughout history Colonialism has occurred... "Saving the savages." Dismantle their culture, 0utlaw their language, Replace their Gods, Replace their clothing.. Separate the children from their parents... Strip their resources... YaY! We saved them Savages!
PS. For such a awsum narrator, make all kinda of voices, but cant sing a note 🎵

Darkness inside, when I prefer the light

Spoiler alert: Personally, the betrayal, jealousy, and revenge cards have never held much interest for me. The reason’s for this comment are beyond my desire to say and ruin the story for a listener, as I have always said too much. I prefer trust, teamwork, and loyalty. I’m not a fan at all of manipulation.
