About this listen

In 2008 Sean Conway set off on a 1,000 mile bike ride that would shape the next 10 years of his life, as he became obsessed with the idea of becoming a real ultra cyclist. This is his story, how he tried and failed many times to break a cycling world record, and the story about his final world record attempt, cycling 4,000 miles across Europe. Sean nearly gave up on his dream after tragically losing two of his ultra cycling friends, but decided to continue in their honor with his quest to chase big miles on two wheels. Sean looks back at some of his cycling heroes and heroines and the boom in ultra cycling over the last decade.

Quite good

Sean is such an approachable character, and always does such a stellar job of saying so much in a quick reading style.

Great book when on an a road trip.

Sean’s stories kept me wanting to hear more. I loved hearing about the high and lows of each day on the road, imagining myself exactly where he was, except Russian roads, yikes. My favorite supporting character was Pedro. Congrats to Sean on this great achievement, the ride and the book.

Excellent

Great book with wonderful stories plus excellent tips for those embarking on endurance cycling events. The narration is superb - a really enjoyable South African accent.

Sean Conway inspires the “Big Mile” Athlete in all of us

Purely inspirational - I wanted to hop on my bike the whole time I was listening. Can’t wait to put some of Sean’s insights to work on my future bikepacking adventures!

I enjoyed this book

I felt like Sean had a unique perspective, and I liked how he mentioned other cyclists. Before I finished, I ordered Mark Beaumont’s book.

Great Story

I'm a life long cyclist who is just now getting interested in the idea of endurance cycling... or "Big Mile Cycling". This was a great listen, will probably give it another listen soon.

What happened to Pedro?

Loved listening to this adventure. Well done Sean. An amazing challenge and a story of overcoming adversity time and time again to achieve the goal and beating the record. However, what happened to Pedro?
