About this listen

Beyond the Consequences, book five of the best-selling Consequences series. From New York Times best-selling author Aleatha Romig comes more of the suspenseful romantic thriller about secrets and deception, passion and love, choices and consequences.

Secrets and deception: As the pieces of their puzzle come together, Anthony and Claire Rawlings continue to defy the odds. Together they overcame an incomprehensible beginning. Apart they endured unimaginable heartache. Reunited with family and friends, their journey continues as they navigate a dangerous world where secrets threaten to destroy what they hold the most dear.

Passion and love: Tony and Claire turn up the heat as sparks fly, passion rages, and love prevails. With only a dark glance or devilish grin, the fire that sparked in an isolated suite continues to burn. Though she's no longer willing to be less than Tony's equal in life, behind closed doors only one man makes the rules.

Choices and consequences: The safety of the Rawlings family is not debatable, and only Phillip Roach can assure that they are not disappointed. Learn how he leads old friends and new associates through the dangerous world of delusion and revenge. The choices he makes for both the family and his personal life will have consequences.

Beyond the Consequences is a novel that began as the novella A Peek Beyond the Consequences in a limited-release anthology, Breathless. Since its publication in 2014, Beyond the Consequences has more than tripled in length with more action, heat, and secrets to reveal. Learn once and for all the identity and fate of the sender of the Rawls-Nichols letters as you join the Rawlings for a special surprise! Theirs was a long, complicated story with a monster and a knight. What made their story unique was that these two players were the same person.

Listen Closely-Quite Unbelievable/Mixed Up Tale

Book 5

From the original CONSEQUENCES review: Claire Nichols meets a charming man while bartending. Against all of her rules, she takes him up on his offer for dinner. She awakes to Hell… Kidnapped, assaulted and violated in every way by a cold man. He, Anthony Rawlings, a successful, very wealthy man has holdings, all over the world but now his focus is on Claire. To survive, Claire learns that she must follow his rules. Each decision has a consequence, it can be good or it can be very, very bad.

I urge you to read the publisher's summary, on each book, for more details, as I'm afraid adding to it may it inadvertently reveal spoilers.

Beyond The Consequences (a.k.a. Book 5)

This psychological thriller has been sitting in my library for a few years, I purchased Books 1 & 2 when they were on sale and tried to pick up the rest of the series under the same circumstances (I ended up with 3 of the 8 books available at this time – 2017.) Finally, I decided to listen to Book 1 to see if it would draw me in. It DID and I was hooked. I devoured the whole series back to back – it took the better part of my Christmas holiday and then some.

This is NOT the psychological thriller that the original CONSEQUENCES is. This is full of situations and resolutions that made no sense to this listener. It is my opinion that Althea Romig should NOT have 'tripled in length' the original A Peek Beyond the Consequences because a lot of the content seemed silly and/or unbelievable.

Romy Nordlinger is excellent. Consequences: Consequences, Books 1, 2, 3 and 5 are told from Claire's point of view (POV) and Nordlinger delivers. 5 stars

Credit worthy? Yes, as a fan of the series – but if you can purchase it on sale, that is the way to go.

Notations: some strong language, violence and (not graphic) allusions of sexual situations

Please consider 'following' me on Audible. I purchase a lot of books and I also have the opportunity to review books in all genres, many that I would not pick up on my own. I have been pleasantly surprised by new authors and narrators. If you'd like, read through, vote on and share this and any of my other reviews.

I'm sad to see it end

I could tell it was the last book bc everything just kinda... ended. it was a great buildup, I guess I just didn't want it to stop.

Won't disappoint!

Must read all of the other books in the series to understand this one.
I must say I hated Tony in the first few books in this series, but after he was released from prison and was not under Catherine's influence any longer, I found some respect for him.
Tony and Claire had a long and rocky journey, glad they have a happy ever after.

Didn't like narrator

Didn't like narrator that much but loved the story. Was good to see where Tony and Clare were after their reunification.

OMG!

I knew Tony was a control freak, but come on! It was great to get the story from his point of view, it makes you realize that Claire never had a chance.

I didn't want this series to end!

I have LOVED this series and have waited for this last part. It wasn't as action packed as the last ones but I enjoyed it all the same. I've thoroughly enjoyed Romy Nordlinger's narration all the way through. I love her voice and her characterizations and emotions are always 100 percent.

Love this narrator. Didn't want the series to end!

Hard not to gush about this book without spoilers so I won’t say much. It just really delivers an amazing dimension to Tony and Claire’s love. Danger, real tension mixed in with sensuality and a feeling of hope. Couldn’t put it down. Love this narrator, she always gives more than most. She’s a big part of the whole experience.

Total Disappointment

After several amazing stories this is a book as if the author decided to let the porn industry write it! All of these characters were so we'll developed and so many ways the author could have taken them!

Sorry it was boring.

Would you try another book from Aleatha Romig and/or Romy Nordlinger?

No

If you’ve listened to books by Aleatha Romig before, how does this one compare?

I guess Aletha Romig is making up for Tony the bad guy to Tony the Great husband. Just adding other characters from previous books did not fill an interest in them and further the story. The story in this book is pretty thin, long and boring. Just repeats the formula from previous books.

Would you listen to another book narrated by Romy Nordlinger?

No her reading was terrible, I like a narrator that makes the story enjoyable. I felt that she was trying to read the story with more drama that was necessary.

What would have made this romance irresistible?

A better narrator, a better story
