About this listen

Why do wars really start?

In Battlefield Ukraine, all the usual suspects are hard at work: battles over resources, money, and miscommunication. This predictive novel explores a potential war between NATO and Russia over the fate of the separatist regions in eastern Ukraine.... You'll hope this realistic scenario doesn't become a self-fulfilling prophecy.

Lines have been drawn in the sand, but how firm are they? Will the massive disinformation campaign by the Russians trick the new American administration to do their bidding? Will the new American president back down, or will the world creep one step closer toward global war?

Meh…

I was interested as this is very similar to current events, but it left you hanging. Lots of what ifs, like this current president could even the No of cleaning house, overall I guess I expected more, not a bad book just like a warm cup of coffee, when you really wanted a hot cup.

An Excellent Start!

Was a bit skeptical of this series but I got it on sale and now I can't get enough! A series is only as great as the villains that challenge the heroes. Tom Clancy fans will appreciate the mix of combat, political intrigue, and cyber warfare.

Not bad, not Clancy

I have always gone for speculative military fiction and so this peaked my interest.

The story/scenario is pretty great but the character building, dialogue, and prose is often lacking. (Some of this I would place in the narrator. Often felt like someone was reading a newspaper more than an article.

I’ll check out the next one but hope the dialogue and character arks get better.

Over one of the better WWIII plausibilities.

Engaging

This book has me hooked and I am now ready to listen to all six. It feels realistic in that the U.S. doesn't dominate and quickly win every political or military conflict.

ITS FICTION PEOPLE

its a good book, based on a potential future, it's not meant to represent the actual things going on today, it's not the books fault you're too stupid to realize this.

all military fictions get things wrong from time to time and this book is no different. All in all this is pretty good compared to some of the trash out there.

Accuracy and plot holes

Overall the story has a good premise. However its the execution and general knowledge of how these battles are conducted that lacks accuracy. its all to convient how the western allies and intelligence fail at the right moment for the Russian government to succeed.

20/20

I think lots of people leaving reviews are a bit to harsh because the current war and this story don't match up very well and are themselves in to deep in pro Ukrainian propaganda. when this story was written the view on the Russian military was much different. It's a war story and it wouldn't be a very good one if the Russian army just kept losing.

Decent Story, Politics/Capabilities Almost All Wrong

The idea of expanding the Donbas conflict into WWIII is a very good one that nobody to my knowledge has done yet. HOWEVER, the story sticks to a lot of Russian apologist stories about NATO expansion and threatening Russia, and an overhyping of Russian military and production capabilities. The T-14 is a prime example of this. In real life it hasn’t even seen combat yet, hasn’t been produced outside of MAYBE a dozen tanks, and it’s capabilities represented in the book are far fetched. I could ramble on for an hour about this but this is the short side of it.
