The course focuses on commonly used vocabulary, giving you a way to effectively communicate on your travels, or with relatives if you have an ancestral connection to the language. Catalan is a romance language spoken approximately 9 million people across Catalonia, the Balearic Islands, Valencia, and even certain parts of Sardinia and southern France. You will explore this significant language that has existed for centuries. Through learning Catalan you will connect to customs and traditions unique to the Catalan-speaking world where taking the time to learn the language will be appreciated and open doors to deeper experiences in Catalan-speaking regions. This elementary course teachers you how to speak and understand Catalan at your own pace, helping to make study easier. The course enables you to achieve CEFR A1 (beginner) level in terms of being able to communicate your basic needs, and giving you a robust base for future Catalan study, if desired.
