About this listen

Number-one in the John Putnam Thatcher series.

A mystery centered on a family manufacturing business in New England squeezed by lower cost, potentially from a competitor, and the goings-on around it among family members, which leads to murder. Wall-Street banker John Putnam Thatcher solves it through an adroit combination of common sense, knowing people, and, above all, knowing what money will drive people to do, including murder.

Need a new reader.

A solid mystery particularly for the first in the series but the narrator is the worst that I have ever heard on a recorded book. He stumbled over almost every word longer than two syllables.

Sounds As If Recorded At Home

I really do not know about the story line. I could not get past the performance to find out. Sounds like it was recorded on a home computer by someone reading to the public for the first time. It is awful.
