A good babysitter is hard to find...especially when they’re all dead!

Abby’s first night with the babysitter’s club has her filling in for a friend that’s blowing off work for a hot date. The simple little lie will have dire consequences that trigger a series of unthinkable events and spurs a killer’s need for revenge!

With the bodies - and suspects - stacking up, the girls race to stop the killer and unearth the blood-stained secret behind the lunatic’s grisly murders.

B-Tier Horror, A-Tier Story and Production

As far as I know, the Babysitter Massacre series is a franchise made by Henrique Couto (who narrates this book) and are indie films delving into the sex, gore, and mindless fun of old slasher movies. I don’t know anything about the films because I haven’t watched them, but after listening to this book, I think I want to give them a view. From what I can gather, the reason for the production being in book/audio format instead of a full-fledged movie is because a worldwide pandemic happened and resulted in independent films being basically impossible to film.

The book itself is short, but very well written and containing all the gooey stuff people who love “good” B-movies love. David O'Hanlon has either an extensive understanding of what makes a campy teen slasher good, or he’s a great faker. I’m going to go with the former. Every sick line delivered and relished by Couto’s almost too upbeat voice brings the story to life.

And don’t let its length stop you for buying this. This’ll be one you come back to all the time because of how short, sweet, and gory it is. Almost every twist, turn, kill, sexual encounter, taboo, and so on from the cheesy “classics” is used here, and not lazily like most “homage” stories would claim to do. No, this is a straight up modern B-movie classic in the making.

Do yourself a favor, give this book your credit, money, or gift card balance. It’s well worth the investment.

Great short story

If you are a fan of mystery or horror I highly recommend this book and anything else from David O’Hanlon or Henrique Couto. The story moves naturally and is loaded with great descriptions and details so again I highly recommend.

Little pig, little pig, let me in!!!

David O'Hanlon has done it again! From beginning to end, this book is a fun ride. So buckle in, because this story does not wait for you. The main character Lark is something of a rarity in her world; a babysitter that loves her job. She's a good girl who's good with kids, and maybe, just maybe, something below the surface she's scared will see the light of day. She's a wonderful protagonist that is full of hope, doubt, and the determination to do what's necessary.
Henrique Couto does a fantastic job of narrating the tale of Larkin as she finds herself near the center of a brutal murder that spurs a killer's frenzy for blood. As she works to uncover the killer, expect the unexpected, as well as a healthy dose of grade A masked slasher bloody goodness. Little pig, little pig, let me in!!!

O’Hanlon gives us what we need again...

The story feels like the classic baby sitter vs slasher trope, but in the best way possible. The story leads you to believe that you KNOW who the killer is, throws you for a loop, and then drop kicks you in the mouth with another reveal. I never knew what to expect in this story which made the horror aspect so much sweeter.

Couto is a good narrator and I’m a fan of his podcast Weekly Spooky so it was cool to hear him narrate this story. He’s clear, perfect volume, and while I wish he would inflect characters emotions a little more, he STILL is an amazing narrator.

I would recommend this audiobook to any and everyone who has even the slightest interest in the slasher genre!
