The final installment of the Mike Hammer series ends with a bang and also with sadness. This is a great series.

Supposedly the last of Spillane’s unfinished novels completed by Max Allan Collins. Much of the story is told in a flashback to '70s Long Island involving Velda’s sister Mikki. There are some minor surprises here as she vies between two boyfriends. There’s good fast paced action, fight scenes, shoot outs, some mystery, some good interplay with Velda and some genuine warmth and emotion. It’s a good sendoff for Hammer. . It’s a short book, about 4 hours on audible, narrated by the great Stephen Rudicki. I hope Mr Collins will write some new ones!
