Blaming One Call or Play for a Team's Loss is Short-Sightedly Dumb

  • Summary

  • Joey is back after an east coast adventure, and quite a bit happened! He went to an Orioles game, a Phillies game, made a few friends, had some laughs, and went to a Miami Hurricanes watch party in New York City. Never has there been so much anxiety in one room!

Miami won on a Hail Mary that was overturned, and people got enraged. They yelled things like, "How could you say there was indisputable evidence?" or suggesting the NCAA is rigged. These same folks seem to conveniently overlook other elements from the game like Virginia Tech failing at a fake field goal or being extremely casual with time management on the final drive.

As it turns out, a game consists of more than just one play. And this is hardly the only context where it's happened. So, try not to overreact too much to one moment, yeah? It's a good rule for life in general.

Since we recorded, we also lost sports legends Dikembe Mutombo and Pete Rose. Our thoughts are with their families, and we hope you do a finger wag or make a graceful slide in their honor.
