About this listen

A group of cynical, hard-bit mercenaries runs afoul of Lawbrand’s authorities after a simple job goes belly-up. Desperate and on the run, these ragged outcasts find safety and belonging in their unlikely partnership. Always barely one step ahead the law, they cross paths with the Children of the Sun, a powerful new faith movement, that seeks to topple Lawbrand’s ruling church and purify the Trade-Cities by fire.

At the end of the day, it’s a really nice recounting of a D&D campaign

I listened mainly because I’m a Chris Metzen fan and because I’m running an Auroboros campaign.

Since it’s a recounting of a play through from Chris and his friends, the book does not follow traditional story structure.
It’s kind of all over the place, just like an organic D&D game.

For what I needed though? It’s perfect.

Excellent world building (and destruction) and performance.

Very Recommended

This book breaks the monotony of other longer series. While it could have easily been a series of books in itself, the pace nails the story. It’s not perfect, but it’s damn good.

Thank you Chris and everyone involved for sharing your adventure.
