About this listen

All of Aubrey McFadden’s college friends are tying the knot, and she’s been invited to five weddings. Five. In one year. Who wouldn’t want to celebrate so much love and romance? Aubrey, that’s who.

She’s going anyway, of course. It’s not her friends’ fault her college boyfriend left Aubrey on the day of their wedding. Lies, selfishness, unhappy surprises…no, thank you. And you know who’s responsible for her permanently single status? Monica, that’s who.

Their friends all say Monica Wallace had a thing for Aubrey back then—not that Aubrey cares one little bit why that still makes her heart race. Monica convinced her best friend Cody that marrying Aubrey, settling down, and locking himself into a 9-to-5 at the expense of his dreams would be a huge mistake. Cody called off the wedding, and Aubrey has never forgiven them.

Aubrey McFadden is never getting married, but she does have five weddings to attend, and she’ll be avoiding Monica at every single one.

Wonderful Story

This book forced me to experience hope, anger, trepidation, anticipation and love. Some story! The grammatical errors and mispronounced words were few, but still somewhat distracting.

I've been waiting...

for Georgia to knock it out of the park, and this one is a grand slam!

I'm a huge Georgia Beers fan. In the past couple of years I've been sorely disappointed in narrators, so much so that I didn't finish listening to the Swizzle Stick series. I basically only listen (multitasker with no time to read) so I've bought all but left quite a few unfinished, which makes me sad because I LOVE Georgia Beers writing! I'm not alone. I see it in the reviews. That being said, this one is sweet perfection; a perfect writer/performer match.

While the "left at the altar" trope is well worn, this story is fresh and well done. The characters are loveable, well developed and there are a couple surprises I didn't see coming but ended up making a lot of sense. I don't want to be specific and give things away, but if you are like me and LOVE Georgia Beers but have had difficulty with her narrators, spend you credit here. It's so worth it!

Loved it

This is probably my favorite Beers book ever. I loved the structure of the story. Was hooked from the prologue and couldn’t put it down.

Ms Beers does it again!

I really really really enjoyed this audiobook story from being to end! The MC’s of Aubrey and Monica where very well developed and worked very well with the supporting cast. My kudos to Ms Lulu Larkin. As always she brings all of the characters to life and gives them great character and emotion.

Left At The Church

Audrey McFadden is not a romantic and has no desire to attend five weddings in a single year. Nor does she want to see Monica Wallace at each of them but she will. An enemy to lovers romance. Great narrator and story.

Original

Wow that was a fun book! If you’re like me, and so over the usual 3/4 through the book unnecessary and gut wrenching break up, this listen will be a refreshing change to that tired formula. I adored these ladies and every minute of their journey. The narration was outstanding too.

Sweet

This has quickly become one of my favorite novels. The characters are likeable and as others have mentioned, there is little angst. The only real issue that I had with this audio recording was the narration. Lula Larkin is a very good narrator and I can see why so many people enjoy her work. For me, however, I prefer a narrator who is a bit less.... theatrical? I'm not sure how to describe it. There were times I felt like I was listening to an audition or a script run-through. While narration is very close to those things, I want to get engrossed in the story. I want to forget that it's a performance and really feel like I'm experiencing the story, you know? It was like "Lula Larkin as Monica" and "Lula Larkin as Aubrey"...... not simply Monica and Aubrey. I know it sounds overly critical; it's simply a matter of preference. Overall, the book is really very sweet and I'll be listening to it again when I need to smile.

Great one!

I mean, I really don't think Georgia Beers can write a bad story but this one is a new favorite! Great narrator too!
