Slow, but a solid conclusion

If you could sum up Assassin's Fate in three words, what would they be?

Inevitable, engaging, and emotional.

What did you like best about this story?

This is a tough story to get through, largely because of the constant turmoil of favorite characters. However, if you have read many of Hobb's books, this is something to be expected. She wraps up many story lines in this book, not just Fitz & the Fool.

What didn’t you like about Elliot Hill’s performance?

For the narrative parts of the book, Elliot Hills performance is decent enough. His pace and voice are both soothing and pleasant. However, his female voices are intensely annoying. He just doesn't have the knack it. It's unfortunate because there are several major female characters, and its' rough listening to it.

Intense

I just finished listening to the final book of the Fitz & the Fool trilogy by Robin Hobb. I was a little reluctant to start because I knew it would be emotionally difficult. It was.
It was also very long which is good. That way I can be totally immersed in it. I did find some parts so difficult to accept emotionally that I had to take rest breaks for recovery even if I had time to listen. . A few bits where there was a little too much hurting of Fitz daughter Bea and recounting of the Fool's torture but it all came together in the end. And even when he could have ended it sooner there was still a good 4-6 hrs left to end it better. I was crying at the end and various points throughout.
I was glad to see how well he tied in the rain wild series with their live ships. And glad that not all the length was due to padding from re-telling the previous books for the readers that hadn't read the others. Why someone would start with the 3rd book I have no idea.
Definitely read it.

An appropriate end, albeit, a bit forced

If you have read any Hobb, what you will find here should not suprised you. It felt like putting on something old and familiar. The focus, as always, is on the journey, and the trials and tribulations in it. The journey keeps you hooked and interested, but at times the contrivances taken to keep it going seem artificial. Similarly, Hobb seems to know how she wants to end the journey, but doesn't seem to know how to connect everything to get a fluid and seamless result. Don't get me wrong though, I enjoyed the book, and there were many a powerful scene throughout; the only issue I had was how loosely all those pieces of wonder were stiched together.

A ending

Good story but I am quite sad with the lack of action and to many questions left unanswered if you have listened to the other books I suggest listening to this final one to end this long tale but honestly I am disappointed

Oh my heart!

This was the most beautifully crafted end to such an amazing series. Excellent writing, excellent narration, and overall well done! Be warned this is a heart jerker. The narrator did a great job conveying Robin's characters. I don't get emotionally invested in books that often, but I'm not too proud to admit that I cried like a baby!

this is the best book and ending to a series i have ever read/listened to

Crying my eyes out

This is one of the best stories I have ever read. At times I found myself laughing out loud, balling my eyes out, furious and shouting all the emotions of real life are brought out by this wonderful tale. Fitz, Nighteyes, Fool you will all be deeply missed. I wish this story could go on forever. I feel like I've lost a best friend or loved one with the ending of this tale but I am so glad I read this tale.

Good addition to the storyline

A very good book . Robin Hobb has produced a very good ending to a tremendous trilogy
