important economic basics

Sowell is amazing. The only thing is that when you read his several books, things get repetitive. nevertheless, worth your time and consideration

A worthy read

There are so many things covered in this book that I never would have connected to economics. I think this is an incredible read for absolutely anyone.

Seriously. This should be required reading for every high school student, or at least college. It's baseline information one *needs* to know to have informed opinions on social, economic issues. On top of that it's eloquently written and read.

If you have read Basic Economics, read this one.

Teach this in High School

Every child in America should know this book before graduating high school. It has such long reaching impacts to economics of course but also life choices, politics, policy, business decision making etc. Simply a phenomenal, straight to the point piece of work. Looking for more Thomas Sowell!!!!

Read it twice

I read Thomas Sowell's Basic Economics before this one, and it is a good follow up. It does repeat a lot of the same themes covered in BE but with more focus on the long-run effects of policies that may appear to pay off in the short run. He also does diverge somewhat towards the end in his discussion about immigration, but it's still good analysis even if he sort of goes off on a tangent. Sowell is a master teacher, able to explain economics without charts and graphs and be understood.
