About this listen

"They killed me, but I survived."

Three years after Rory Riordan foiled her own murder, she still trusts no one. Not Dr. Z, the eccentric college professor who has taken her under his wing, not Benji, the endearing, attractive classmate who insists on following her around, and certainly not Cy, the beautifully dark and mysterious boy who sits on the first row in Dr. Z’s Astrobiology class and asks far too many questions.

When Rory witnesses Cy being abducted by soldiers in the middle of the night, she finds herself submersed in a world that holds even more secrets than she could imagine - even darker secrets than her own.

Thank Goodness for Xe Sands!!!

Let me just say, if it wasn't for Xe Sands narration... IDK... I seriously don't think this book wouldn't have made the cut.

I totally like the story, but the whole APOLONIA name just threw me for a loop. The whole time I was waiting for Apolonia to make an appearance... because whoever or whatever Apolonia was had to be important as the book is name freaking APOLONIA...but... when the truth comes out about Apolonia... really!!!! OMG, so disappointed... then Apolonia didn't really do nothing with that wow and dramatic factor, in which the book shouldn't have been named after her... This book should have been named... RORY or CY... Heck... even DUNE would have been acceptable... but APOLONIA... ummmm ...... NO!

The story however, was a decent sci-fi suspense... Of course when we meet Cy, he is so secretive, that of course he had to be an alien.... but Benji... OMG>.. what a character... I was confused about him from the beginning to the end, and guess what... I still don't like him... especially as a love interest for Rory...

The one smexy time in the book... wasn't even that good... Nothing like "Beautiful Disaster".

The chemistry that Rory and Cy had was way above the chemistry that Rory and Benji had... Then Apolonia...can I just say... Ugh!

I really hope this is a stand alone book, because seriously...

Not to say the book was bad... it was just not great... I was just expecting much more from this author, but the love triangle seriously took away from the chemistry McGuire characters always seem to have. This book did not turn me away from McGuire, I will read/listen to anything she writes, but boy... I was just not satisfied with this story.

Its really funny, because I was so freaking in grossed the entire book! Couldn't put the darn thing down... but now that I am finished... I am so ugh.. unhappy, disappointed... frustrated... IDK...

The this with a writer like McGuire, once you write something like Beautiful Disaster and the Maddox brothers... which in a completely different genre than this book... the problem will always be the loyal fanbase from those books will read this and hate it, as it is nothing like BD or MB... When I say nothing... I mean nothing..... contemporary romance.... NOPE, intense character chemistry..... NOPE, character development.... Yeah it had that...but with the world building... even that fail short...

It's like you have to completely forget that McGuire is the same person that wrote BD! FORGET IT!!! COMPLETELY!!!

Yes, this book is worth a credit for Sands narration alone... Sands is one heck of a narrator... She can turn the most horrible book into magic with her narration....

Maybe not worth a buy, yes to a sale.

Fast, Thrilling, but Predictable

The story had a lot of excitement and emotions, but the plot was predictable. Easy read and great for a car ride. The characters were believable and well developed. The sci-fi part was a little loose and felt a little too unrealistic.

pretty good

I really enjoyed this book. It actually turned out to be much different than I had thought it would be. I like that the author had an interesting story about the meteorite and the zombie esque events that ensue. I also felt the romance was beautiful and sweet with some twits and turns that kept you interested.

It did have a few cons for me though. One of the guys had fallen so head over heels with the main girl that it verged on unrealistic. And she felt unrealistically strong for the other guy that she didn't even know. It was just annoying. But I've never enjoyed the whole love triangle thing. Additionally, I have no idea why the author decided to name the book Apolonia. In the book Apolonia is in retrospect a minor character. The only reason why I can think the author decided to name it this is because the name sounds cool, but in that case, why not name the main female Apolonia. That would make sense. I'm just shaking my head with confusion....

Jamie Mcguire strikes again

Great narrator. Jamie Mcguire is an excellent story teller, no matter the genre. I've loved all her books from zombies to supernatural to science fiction. This is a fast pace adventure with a great ending
