About this listen

Has our Jersey Girl finally bitten off more than she can chew?

Crime reporter Colleen Caruso has an appetite for romance...and trouble. When someone tries to poison Ken Rhodes (her handsome boss and boyfriend), Colleen vows to hunt down the culprit and serve them up to the police. She’s whisked away into the scrumptious world of restaurants and gourmet food as she tangles with four culinary divas from Ken’s past.

Trouble is, Colleen doesn’t know when to turn down the heat.

Is this Jersey Girl’s investigation a recipe for disaster?

Or will the poisoner get their just desserts?

Fantastic Story & Narration🎧A Captivating Delight!

I am loving this series, the characters and storylines are amazing and so is Jo-Ann Lamon Reccoppa’s style and the audiobook narration performed by Meghan Kelly. This wonderful cozy mystery is entertaining, it grabbed my attention right from the start and captivating it the entire book. Colleen Caruso is one of my favorite characters to spend time with, she is an impressive character who speaks her mind and takes no crap from anyone, including her ex-husband. It is great to see how much she grew as a person and an investigative journalist since she first started, and she is more confident in everything she does. Fast thinking and quick on her feet, she goes in to action when Ken Rhodes gets sick after taking a bite of his food at a company dinner, and winds up saving his life. Ken recovers and Colleen is on the case and follows all leads until she puts it all together and solves the case. The author does a great job keeping you on your toes and keeping you guessing, not only who done it but what was going to happen next, because with a character like Colleen, you just never know. There is never a dull moment in this wonderfully plotted story, it has the perfect balance of drama, mystery, witty dialogue, heartfelt emotions and some romance. Thank you for another fabulous story.

🎧📚🎧 And for the amazing narration,  Meghan Kelly’s exceptional performance continues, her character voices have been consistent and the quality of the audio is top-notch. I love how she takes each role, runs with it and makes it her own, sounding believable and just as I picture the characters to sound. She sets the perfect tone for the story, captures all the character’s emotions and projects them into her performance, having you feel every single one. Meghan Kelly is a versatile voice artist and an entertaining storyteller, and her narration enhances an already great story to another level. Thank you for another fabulous listen.

THE GIRL FRIEND WITH THE MOST.

This series has a great leading lady, she solves crime, writes as a reporter, doesn't let her ex husband schmooze back into the family house, raises a boy and teenage girl, puts up with a shrill, bossy mother (with a good heart of course) and is determined to solve her boyfriends (aka the boss) near murder AND his wife's murder (from long before they met). Enjoyable story and well narrated, I recommend the whole series.

My Thoughts on Another Man's Poison

This was a very entertaining story, and I was happy that book three managed to hold my attention as well the previous two. I really enjoyed the who done it of it all. I felt like I was kept guessing the whole time. Once it was over, I was satisfied and found the ending to be very cute. I’d certainly try another cozy mystery by this author in future.

The good story experience was made so enjoyable by the excellent narration Meghan Kelly brought to it. She continues to bring such a good tone and energy to her performances that I’m often willing to try new authors just because I know her performance will be top notch.

Another Man’s Poison

This series is turning out to be such a fun series. I’m enjoying the characters and the plot. I however do not like her sister’s boyfriend or his nasty attitude. Why bother answering her calls if your going to be rude. I loved the sweet mother in law. All the restaurants they visited and the cookies made me hungry. Great narration and super fun listen!

Another man’s poison

I’ve been following Colleen’s journey since book 1 and I have to say. This one felt different.
While the antics and mystery remains the same and comforting for how I’ve gotten to know Colleen something felt … off.
I enjoyed solving the mystery with her all the same and loved the Ken “resolution” at the end making me hope for more books.
Overall another entertaining cozy mystery with our favorite journalist and like always Meghan does an amazing job giving each character their own charm. Loved it and can’t wait for more!

Poison Anyone?

This is the third book in the new Jersey Girl series. I have really been enjoying this series and look forward to more adventures with middle aged mom, Colleen Caruso. This cast of characters is fun from Colleen, who is just trying to remake her life after a nasty divorce, to her sister and her best friend to the handsome boss/love interest, Ken Rhodes.

In this installment, someone tries to poison Ken Rhodes during an anniversary banquet for the newspaper. Colleen jumps in to solve the mystery. As she wades through the possible suspects we learn more about Ken, his family and his background. Colleen and Ken’s relationship takes another turn along the way. As with the previous books in this series, this was a fun romp.

Meghan Kelly is easy to listen to and has enough of a Jersey accent to make the listening fun. She has an enjoyable voice and brings life to the characters.

If you are looking for a fun new series with a 40-something main character with lots of humor and a good mystery, this is the series for you.

Delightfully Delicious Cosy Mystery!

Colleen’s night at the paper’s anniversary celebration takes a bizarre turn when Ken’s entree has a wee bit of extra spice … the near fatal kind! Witty, tense, and with no lack of suspense or suspects, “Another Man’s Poison” kept me guessing and wondering from start to finish! The plot was smooth and easy to follow. I loved the scene setting, the chosen locale, and oh my the dialogue! There is NOTHING like snark done right, and some of THIS dialogue is snarky elevated to it’s beautiful, brilliant BEST, and I loved every single bite! The characters are a brilliant representation of the good, the not so good, and the deplorable! They were all so deliciously different and so fabulously defined! I had my favorites, but I’m not telling! The narration that brings this delicious treat to life is fantastic! Without skating into spoiler territory, let me just say that a few of the characters have some “challenging” interactions with each other during the course of the story. Those feelings are clearly and brilliantly conveyed through the intonations and inflections of the character voicing, really making this story come ALIVE for me and tremendously enhancing my enjoyment! I loved everything about this fantastic cosy mystery! Five stars!

Who done it

Selfishness and greed are powerful motivators. Colleen is nothing if not tenacious, even to the point of being tactless. She's like a dog with a bone and won't let go no matter how many dead-ends she goes down. She just puts it in reverse and starts again. A plus for perseverance and finding a rich second husband. A good mystery that kept me guessing. I voluntarily listened to a free copy of this and am giving an honest review. The narrator was good, but I wish she would try doing a male voice instead of the same voice throughout the story.
