About this listen

Life as a human has finished. Life as a supernatural, angel-human hybrid has begun.

Imorean Frayneson’s old world has been destroyed. His university and the faculty have deceived him. Pulled into a paranormal world run by Archangels, Imorean finds himself dragged into the role of a soldier and standing in the middle of a war.

His life is complicated further by friends, breakups, academics, and overcoming his great fear of heights. Bewildered by change, Imorean struggles to hold on to what is normal, but when angels and demons begin to clash, he is forced to accept his new reality.

As he learns more about his position, he finds himself locked in the sights of an ancient evil - a demonic general bent on his murder.

An angel story

I just finished listening all 4 books, a 48 hours long story. Overall I like supernatural young adult stories, and this was no exception.
The first book was almost like a pilot for the series. I think both the writing and audio production quality improved throughout 2nd - 4th books, so if you like the plot after the first shorter book, definitely keep listening. The first book's audio contains some second takes left in, the others don't have such an issue. Both narrators did a good job, but I slightly prefer the second one.
The story is a bit of a unique take on angels and college students, and while we get some world building, the focus is on a smaller group of characters, their relationships, emotions and decisions, from the viewpoint of young man Imorean. Religion and romance are barely present, the weigh is on friendship, trust, and of course, fighting for the right.
It is rather an easy (but not always light) listen, no huge surprises, no nuanced good or evil, but not without twists either, overall a well written YA story. I admit, it definitely won't be everyone's cup of tea, but I'm happy I kept listening, it was exactly what I needed then.
As a non-native speaker, I could understand the story well while listening, as opposed to another book with richer and more complex language and story, where the struggle is there.

Worth the listen!

I just finished this series, and it was overall a really good listen. The narrator changes after the first book and it took me awhile to get use to the second narrator; he grew on my though. He pronounces the names differently, and gives inflections differently so that's always challenging when swapping out. I will say there were a few audio errors within the series. There were occassionally retakes that were left in and background noises, but overall not unpleasant.

The storyline was a fun story of angels and demons, and definitely had some good twists and turns. Some of the characters get annoying at times, but still definitely worth a listen.
