The New York Times Magazine’s award-winning “1619 Project” issue reframed our understanding of American history by placing slavery and its continuing legacy at the center of our national narrative. This new book substantially expands on that work, weaving together 18 essays that explore the legacy of slavery in present-day America with 36 poems and works of fiction that illuminate key moments of oppression, struggle, and resistance.

Story
In this classic work, Professor George G. M. James methodically shows how the Greeks first borrowed and then stole the knowledge from the Priests of the African (Egyptian) Mystery System. He shows how the most popular philosophers including Thales, Anaximander, Plato and Socrates were all treated as men bringing a foreign teaching to Greece. A teaching so foreign that they were persecuted for what they taught.

Story
For two centuries, the deep-seated fear that many White people feel—of losing power, of losing economic standing, of losing a particular “way of life”—has been the driving force behind American politics and culture. And as we approach a future where White people will become a racial minority in the US, something estimated to occur as early as 2043, that fear is only intensifying, festering, and becoming more visible. Are we destined for a violent clash? What can we do to step into our country’s inevitable future, without tearing ourselves apart in the process?

In 2013 Assata Shakur, founding member of the Black Liberation Army, former Black Panther and godmother of Tupac Shakur, became the first ever woman to make the FBI's most wanted list. Assata Shakur's trial and conviction for the murder of a white State Trooper in the spring of 1973 divided America. Her case quickly became emblematic of race relations and police brutality in the USA. While Assata's detractors continue to label her a ruthless killer, her defenders cite her as the victim of a systematic, racist campaign.

George Granville Monah James was a Guyanese-American historian and author. His 1954 book Stolen Legacy argues that Greek philosophy and religion originated in ancient Egypt. James contends that Greek philosophy was based on ideas and concepts borrowed from the ancient Egyptians. He argues that when Alexander the Great invaded Egypt, he captured the Royal Library at Alexandria and that Egyptian ideas then spread to Greece.

Thank you for providing a most valuable lecture on ancient Kemetic history by the esteemed scholar Dr. As a Hilliard. His words and insight have touched me in ways that words are unable to truly express. Nonetheless, I am gratefully for the message and the scholarship embodied in the effort. Respectfully, JHG

Royal Holy Family
I really enjoyed listening to Dr Hilliard again. In the mid 80’s I took a 2-week study tour to Egypt to study the ancient African Egyptian’s influences on Egypt & the world. They influenced everything. However, Asa was the lecturer. During the days we toured various sites, which included the Sphinx, The peramids (Giza, & Steps), Valley of the Kings, & Queens, etc.. Each day after touring we returned to our 5 star hotel in Cairo, refreshed ourselves, then dined on wonder meals. The highlight of each day for me was the evening lecture sessions by Dr Hilliard which would go on into the night. He had much knowledge to spread, & I enjoyed all of it! I am a lay person who has always since adulthood searched for the truth of my African history. I learned of Dr Hilliard from his lecture series (at my community college), “Free Your Mind” presented by Mr Listerfield. When I saw/read the tour flyer at my favorite Black book store “Marcus Books” in Oakland I had already read all but one of the books he recommended we read before taking the tour. I had to go! I had already traveled to Senegal, England & Paris (same trip) and have since traveled to Zimbabwe, the Egyptian was by far the most happiest, but above all the most informative! I truly believe each African Person should travel there, if they can. But do the study tour. I think Dr Ben’s son still gives them. Oh yes picked up 2 college credits too! I fell so blessed & privileged to have met & heard in person Dr Hilliard. He Was God-Sent to bring knowledge of our true history to us. So sad he, & Dr Clark, & Dr Ben have left us. They did the work!

True knowledge that we are not taught in school. Some people can’t handle the truth do to generational brain washing and the failure to read and research the past. Our his story does not begin in 1500’s as slaves and ignorant people. Lecture was just to short.
