About this listen

Kieran's love life didn't get off to a good start. He threw up after his first kiss; he was beaten up by the first girl to have a crush on him; and after a mix-up with his first love letter, he could only sit back and watch as the entire school mistook him for a brutal murderer. By the time the hormones kicked in, Kieran had all but given up on love, but the worst was yet to come.

Relying on advice from friends who are just as dumb and just as clueless, Kieran weaves a stuttering, stumbling path through the world of adult dating. He lacks decorum, charisma, confidence - everything he needs to succeed. Despite that, there is one girl who changes him, one girl who eases his nerves and gives him hope. She is everything he had hoped for: beautiful, generous, funny - and she didn't turn tail and run when she first saw him. But then, she disappears. Will Kieran find her again? And if he does, can his luck hold long enough to make a relationship with her last? What are the chances that all the mishaps and misadventures that go before, between, and after will put him off dating for good?

An Idiot in Love chronicles a series of unfortunate sexual encounters and relationships that every listener can appreciate and sympathize with.

Fun story

Good fun romp. I laughed and sighed at the antics of the main character. The narrator as usual was fantastic. The story flowed smoothly even as the main character continued to be an idiot. If you’re looking for a good clean fun read this is the book.

A very lovely story

This story is one of my new favorites. I loved the main character’s personality, and as for how I can relate to him being awkward. The narrator did a great job as well, and I feel as though he fit this role nicely.

Hilarious

One of the funniest novels I've read this year. British wry humor at its best

Hilarious

It’s like American pie in England. It was great and so sweet. I love it.

Starts funny, but idiot gets in the way

The story begins in this guy's elementary school and leads us through his puppy love adventures through HS. Then it takes so.evety odd sexual encounters in his adult life. The 'relationships' are very creepy and hopefully not true. The poor guy is quite immature and lacks basilica common sense. This is supposed to be the background for a funny story, but in fact, it's just sad. I wish it not every one of his experiences wasn't so over the top ridiculous because eventually I just became desensitized by the occurances. The appeal formed from the fun start was gone before the story was finished. His recounting made me feel he really disliked women. Given his odd history, that was possible but not very gratifying for this reader. The HEA ending felt out of place.

The narration, however, was fantastic, and my guess is that it accounts for 75% of the positive reactions to the book. it certainly helped my rating.

Quite unexpected

This story was so entertaining and worth the listen. Its very slow in the beginning, but then you just fall in love with the very endearing Kieran. Give it a go if you’re in between books. I laughed out loud at some bits and books rarely do that for me, so much that my husband came to find me to inquire. I can totally see this becoming a film it’s that enjoyable!

Shock

I am so discussed by the content. I only listened to the first 2 chapters (maybe it calms down)… the characters are 8 and 9 years old and briefly, a few 6th graders.
The 6th graders are smoking and using profanity… the 9 yr old girl wants the French kiss the 8 yr old boy and “show me yours and I will show you mine”. Other 8 yr olds cuss and use the F word. I felt dirty listening to children being described this way.
I only clicked 1 star because I had to, to submit. I give NO stars!!!
