About this listen

Another YA suspense thriller by Tamara Hart Heiner! Altercation is the sequel to Perilous.

“These books are riveting! I couldn’t put either of them down once I’d started, and this is a series where the sequel is even better than the first book.” (Shannon O’Donnell, Book Dreaming)

The FBI promises Jacinta Rivera and her friends that they are safe. Jaci wants desperately to believe them but weeks of hiding from their kidnapper, alias "The Hand", have left her wary. Hidden from the public eye in an FBI safe house, Jaci must reconcile both her father's mysterious disappearance and the murder of her best friend. A betrayal lands Jaci back in the grasp of The Hand, shattering her ability to trust, and leaving her to wonder if she will ever piece together her broken life.

“Heiner’s writing is crisp and clear, painting evocative word pictures and creating a movie in the reader’s mind.” (Tristi Pinkston, author, Secret Sisters Mysteries)

A good second book

This is a book in which you really want to read book one before this one. It is a suspenseful continuation from book one. This book touches on a lot of sensitive topics. Rape, sex trafficking, teenage pregnancy, murder, self defense, kidnapping. I love the friendships that the teenagers have for each other. They support each other to help them get through the tough times. And tough they are. Enough to cause PTSD. There is a bit of romance mixed in with all the happenings.

Great

I enjoyed this continuation of the story. I have definitely become invested in the characters in this series and am eager to start the next book. I was somewhat surprised, yet very pleased with many of the twists and turns in the storyline in this book. The author does a great job of keeping me on my toes as well as keeping a cohesive story running.
I enjoy the narrator most of the time, but find it very odd that there seems to be a southern accent every time she is reading the parts of Megan, a girl from Montana, it just feels so wrong to hear her with a southern accent. Maybe I’m missing something there though...

A great end but predictable

Being able to guess the events of the ending of this chapter of a great story did not take anything away from it being a most enjoyable listen. What is intriguing is the twist at the end which opened the door to this story having a entire story waiting to be shared

Another great story

The poor girls. What an awful time they had just trying to be safe. I was horrified when they were taken again. A story full of greed, corruption, betrayel and sadness. The boys got to stay with their sister & the ending was good. A great conclusion from the first one,

Shows great range

This author has great range. I normally don't like suspense but this has the right amount. I got this book through story origins and this is my voluntary and honest review.

It's a roller coaster!

So I wasn't sure what I'd think about the continuation of the 1st book but; it was actually really good and tied the ending up well while still leaving an opening for the 3rd book. I really like the characters in this series & I'm ready to begin the 3rd & I know I'll be sorry when I complete the final one. I've really enjoyed all the ups and downs the twist & turns. really good work. Thank you !

Plot and characters will have you squirming.

This book is very entertaining! I'm glad I read the first one in the series, Perilous. The girls went through so much in that one. This is how they are coming out the other end just to be grabbed again! Its not always realistic, but the plot and characters will have you squirming.
The narrator, again didn't do this book justice. She doesn't portray the high anxiety the events require. She really just reads the book to you. Her voice is, however, easy to listen to.
I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book from Story Origin.

A Great Listen

Just when you think you're safe and on your way home, you're world is turned upside down when you're betrayed and captured again. Fifteen is too young to meet the horrors of the world and people are not always what they seem to be. You'll find yourself listening longer then you intended as you're drawn into the suspense of the story. I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request, and have voluntarily left this review.
