About this listen
They wanted to find technology’s potential. Instead, they found humanity’s.
Adrian Silva is a young neuroscientist joining the team at Crestwood Research Institute, where they attempt to engineer revolutionary medical technology. A promising path appears until setbacks pile up, including a critical article poisoning public opinion, the loss of funding, and the director’s questionable motivations.
A breakthrough arrives in the form of Alex Moor, a comatose brain injury patient who undergoes Adrian’s revolutionary treatment melding genetics, AI, and nano technology. This Patient Alpha awakens with inexplicable sensations amidst a profound transformation, becoming Alphamind.
But a rival team creates a technological virtuoso of its own with profound capabilities, setting up a global clash with the fate of humanity hanging in the balance.

Story
Ryland Grace is the sole survivor on a desperate, last-chance mission - and if he fails, humanity and the Earth itself will perish. Except that right now, he doesn't know that. He can't even remember his own name, let alone the nature of his assignment or how to complete it. All he knows is that he's been asleep for a very, very long time. And he's just been awakened to find himself millions of miles from home, with nothing but two corpses for company.

Jazz Bashara is a criminal. Well, sort of. Life on Artemis, the first and only city on the moon, is tough if you're not a rich tourist or an eccentric billionaire. So smuggling in the occasional harmless bit of contraband barely counts, right? Not when you've got debts to pay and your job as a porter barely covers the rent. Everything changes when Jazz sees the chance to commit the perfect crime, with a reward too lucrative to turn down.

Where Technology Meets the Soul
This audiobook was such an experience and it was a deep dive into the uncharted territories of human consciousness. It felt like a blend of Arrival's exploration of communication and Ex Machina's questioning of artificial intelligence, but with a unique focus on the human element. The way it explored the potential for connection beyond our current understanding was truly mind-bending. It left me pondering the very fabric of reality and our place within it, like a philosophical space opera playing out in the theater of the mind.

A Gripping Sci-Fi Thriller with Thought-Provoking!
"Alphamind: The Collective Consciousness" by James Azinheira is a captivating blend of science fiction and philosophical exploration. From the moment Adrian Silva joins the Crestwood Research Institute, the tension steadily builds, immersing the listener in a world where cutting-edge neuroscience, AI, and nanotechnology collide with ethical dilemmas and unforeseen consequences. The story’s premise is both intriguing and original, raising questions about humanity’s future in a world increasingly dominated by technology.
Rick Bender’s narration brings the characters and plot to life with a compelling voice and excellent pacing. His ability to convey emotion and intensity made the experience all the more engaging, keeping me hooked throughout the entire 11.5-hour listen. Even when the narrative dives into complex scientific concepts, Bender’s delivery keeps it accessible and exciting.
The clash between rival teams and the rise of Alphamind as a technological marvel create a thrilling ride with high stakes, making this more than just a sci-fi story—it’s a reflection on humanity’s potential and its limits. While the science is fascinating, it’s the human element that gives this audiobook its heart.
If you enjoy thought-provoking sci-fi with strong character development and high-stakes drama, Alphamind is definitely worth the listen. Highly recommended!

Not for me
I wanted to like this story, but I couldn't get through it. The performance was just not good. The female voices sounded like cartoon character little girls. The story, felt like it was AI generated. In one scene, they were at a Christmas Market, and the term "festive spirit" was used so many times that I had to turn it off. The dialog was not natural in any way. I enjoy AI very much, I train AI, but either let it be an AI story, or a human made story.

dry
Written like a AI narration on a short. I'm 2 hours in and have no clue what's going on and no interest either.
