In New York Times bestselling author Diana Palmer's fan-favorite tale of unexpected passion, opposites attract when a wealthy mogul falls for his beautiful, secretive employee.
When Ivory Keene landed a job at a prestigious fashion house in New York, she could never have anticipated the challenges and excitement her new position would provide. Chief among them is her exasperatingly sexy boss, Curry Kells.
The older, experienced executive can't help but be drawn to Ivory by a desire neither can resist. He sees only a talented young woman whose fresh, exciting designs might just make them both millions. But he soon discovers that Ivory is keeping secrets.
Now, just as Ivory's wildest dreams are within her grasp, she's tempted by the intimacies of a forbidden affair. But is achieving fame and wealth worth sacrificing Curry's love?

the narrator's voice might have a lot to do with that.
I'm not kidding about comparing him to Les Nesman, a very stiff and starchy radio news personality (for those who don't know) It's comical when done on purpose....
this is NOT funny.
It's more like an annoying waste of time and money.
i am tempted to get my credit back.
i tried listening while I was doing a LOT of Holiday baking, an already boring task, and I struggled to maintain interest. this story just made the whole thing even more boring.
i also didn't know there would be children in this story.... something i avoid like the plague in literature since most modern writers struggle to pull off believable young characters (including professionals)
Narrators don't seem any better at it.... these abysmal performances often make me wonder if they have ever actually met a real life child or if they are using cartoon stereotypes.
It might be better if I read this in actual pulp. so, fair warning to anyone who has the same impossibly high standards as i do when it comes to fictional children or romances being read by a 1980s anchorman.
Les Nesman reads romance

Ivory Keene was consider white trash from her Texas roots thanks to a liar mother who uses Ivory as a keep out of Jail card. Ivory wins a fashion designer contest and soon is working in New York for HUNKY millionaire Curry Kells. Ivory has talent and is getting more credit and the notice of her boss. Ivory is kept in near poverty paying off her drunken mother. Marlene shows up to ruin what little happiness Ivory has in her life. Revealing every lie that Ivory has told and adds plenty of her own stories and lies to the mix. Ivory now looks like a schemer to Curry who soon distances himself from Ivory. After Marlene goes back to Texas, Ivory learns just how low her mother would go to ruin her in the eyes of her lover Curry. This was written in 1995. It has strong Characters and the Heroine learns to pick up the pieces from her damaged past. One of the better novels from the early years of Diana Palmer. Again the reader makes you cringe when he imitates a woman;s voice but a good story. And the fun is watching how far the evil Marlene go and what Ivory does to stop her. I give it 5 Stars~
Ivory crawls her way to the top~5 stars~
