Hard to listen with ear buds/headphones

Of course it's an awesome classic story. But the narrator's voice volume is all over the place. When she reads as the narrator she sounds very nice, but as she speaks as the character(s), her voice gets very loud, high-pitched and squeaky. Painful on the ears.
