A lost opportunity
This story is a bit uneven but this is a pretty interesting setting and adventure that might have been a great audiobook with a less flat permormance. Nothing has impact and emotions ring false. Every line is delivered with the same even lilt and flat affect. Grating and comically bad. Definitely try a sample.

ok, not amazing fantasy world
cute story for kids as abstract introduction to complex social and cultural issues created by subjugation of any group.
narrator is ok if you are using it as a bedtime story. it is not irritating or hard to listen to, but it's the difference between someone reading outline and an actor performing their lines.
it is a good book for young adult and under but just ok for an adult.

Fantastic Story!!
I haven't been enthralled in a book like this in so long. So creative and enticing. Brought so many emotions: happiness, sadness, anxiety and anger! I wish i could read this again for the first time ahhh and the narration was spectacular as well

This would be a GREAT movie! A true tale of woe and wonder in a post-apocalyptic CA. Magical and moving. Expertly written and read.
