This anthology contains five short stories previously published in READING for Christian Schools Grade 6 (Bob Jones University Press 1988), updated for a new generation of readers, with plenty of new illustrations. Black and White interior and a full-cover cover.

• “The Monument” - A game of tag turns into a journey of discovery and danger
• “Brethren Nisei” - A white American boy watches his Japanese friends undergo persecution during the war
• “Antarctica” - Two brothers help their uncle outwit a desperate gang of seal poachers.
• “Sons of a Mighty Father” - Historical fiction about the Roman catacombs during a time of persecution against Christians.

Also, the book includes a Sherlock Holmes story and two ballads by children's favorite poet, Ogden Nash, as well as a memoir story of a woman's first martial arts lesson after becoming a black belt.

Interesting stories

The stories are interesting and the narration is good. The description advertises that the stories are appropriate for grade 6. Because of some themes, they might not be good for younger children. As an adult, I enjoyed the stories. They provide various themes for discussion if used with children.
