About this listen

Tonya Craft, a Georgia kindergarten teacher and loving mother of two, never expected a knock on her door to change her life forever. But in May 2008, false accusations of child molestation turned her world upside down. The trial that followed dragged her reputation through the mud and lent nationwide notoriety to her name. Tonya's life spiraled into a witch-trial nightmare in which she was deemed guilty before her innocence could be determined by a jury. Her children were taken away without even a good-bye, and her own daughter was forced to take the stand against her in a courtroom. The situation seemed hopeless, and Tonya was shell-shocked and heartbroken. But that didn't keep her from finding the strength to fight.

Accused is about more than Tonya's shocking trial and fight for justice. It is the story of a mother's extraordinary love, the faith that sees her through it all, and the forgiveness that sets her free.

Critic reviews

" Accused, the true story of a Tonya Craft's fight against the criminal justice system, is much more than a blow by blow account of a woman facing a prosecutorial steamroller." (Robert Whitlow, author of The Confession)

What the....???

I NEVER write reviews but I just can't stop myself this time! I'll keep this short and sweet. If you want a detailed account of how the Justice system, Police Department, Department of Children and Family Services and humans of no conscience fail an innocent women-this book is for you! You will be horrified, infuriated and just about the time you think you can't take anymore-it will get worse.
As far as I can tell, the only person that got it right with Tonya Craft is Jesus Christ. I love true stories/crime but without the addition of Mrs. Craft's faith and perseverance, I would not have been able to finish this.
I feel I was sufficiently warned by other reviewers about how horrible this story is and I still went for it and at this point I'm not sure if I'm glad I did or not. I do know this...if one penny of my purchase goes to this amazing woman and her kiddos-I don't regret it one bit!

Great book!

Another example of the flaws in our judicial system. False accusations with no consequences for the accusers. A family left hurting in the wake of a storm that left lasting ripples in their lives and the lives of the rest of us. Parents now afraid to show affection and love to our children and children as a whole for fear of what we might be accused of. A very sad world we live in.

Shocking and revolting!

I applaud Ms Craft for her bravery and courage to fight for her rights and for her children. I got very angry during a lot of this story- incensed, really. It is utterly disgusting how people can lie and spew hatred against anyone and get away with it! To have your life in the hands of evilness is horrifying!

This is a long listen but, you will be transfixed to your device until the last word.

Forgiveness is a miraculous thing!

So sad that people will allow hatred to grow like a wild fire. But more amazing to see how forgiving those by whom you were wronged can unburden one’s soul and allow them to thrive!

Heartwrenching Story

The story of the witch hunt Tonya Craft endured is heartbreaking and shocking. The narrator brings a liveliness to the story's many characters that pulls you deeper in, especially in the courtroom scenes. I have to say, though, that while I sympathized with Tonya's ordeal throughout I didn't like her a lot by the end. Throughout the book, she peppers in phrases like (I'm paraphrasing here) "It was important that the jury know I'm not a perfect person," yet outside of two small failings she takes credit for, she presents herself mostly as the only morally upright person in the room, a person whose every action is altruistic. I really find that hard to buy. Telling people you're not perfect yet behaving as if you think you are would lend credence to ONE of the prosecution's allegations: that Tonya is a bit narcissistic. Still, narcissist does not remotely equal child molester, and this woman is so completely and clearly innocent it's ridiculous that grown adults could have ever put her and the children in their care through all this.

Excellent even after the 4th time!!!!

Loved this book. I have the paperback version and have read it 3 times. I bought it on Audible and I am glad I did. The narrator was so "life like" that I felt like I was right there in that coutroom. When the verdicts were being read, I cried and my heart pounded in my chest as if it were my trial. I cannot recommend this book enough!
