Publisher's summary

For 30 years, Christopher lived a life only few people could even imagine. It was a world in which money meant everything and nothing and where excess was simply a part of the daily menu. By chance, he was unable to embark on the family cruise with the rest of his overprivileged relatives aboard a private yacht, customized to the tune of $750,000,000.00.

In a family that has everything, one tends to forget that some things are beyond even their control. After fate sends the family an unmistakable message, Christopher suddenly finds himself on the receiving end of a financial avalanche, yet fully incapable of managing or even understanding the full magnitude of it. In a world beset with vipers and jackals, he would be as helpless as a sheep led to slaughter in handling the family’s substantial financial assets.

Luckily, his grandfather still has enough time to impart the knowledge that will save the family legacy, but the measures that must be taken to do so, are drastic and must be implemented immediately. Although the entire ordeal seems excessive and unrealistic to Christopher, his grandfather’s mind has already been made up, and soon Christopher must face something unheard of in his family’s lineage: reality.

Begs the Question: Am I Worthy?

This is an unbelievably beautiful love story on many levels, and the over-arching message is not only poignant, but it is also relevant and emotionally touching. This is the kind of novel that sticks with you long after you've read it (and a number of others), because the message gets buried in your very spirit. I loved this book and the narration by Alice Dod was emotionally riveting. Highly recommended.

Wonderful story

You do not want to miss this story! I had never heard of Riano D. McFarland until I listened to a book about a dog named “ Odin”. I loved that story so much I then listened to “The World According To Bandit”. Both great stories. I felt that the author was so good I needed more. That is when I started listening to “A Worthy Custodian”. Not by any means a dog book but even better. It tells the story of an exceedingly wealthy young man whose grandfather strips him of his wealth for 18 months to show him what it is truly like to survive in the working mans world. His name is even changed to Adam where he becomes a custodian for a high school. Instead of being upset with his grandfather and doing just his job and nothing more he gets into his tasks in cleaning the school with pride. He gets to know some of the kids and experiences some real life struggles these kids face whose families cannot afford meals for their kids on weekends. He creates a plan to shower those less fortunate kids with a summer camp that literally changes their lives. Great story and great performance by the narrator.

A Lesson to Learn

I really enjoyed this story and the beautiful lesson that it imparts to its readers or listeners. People don't understand that just because you believe you have everything, there are still lessons o to learn like love, compassion, empathy, and giving back. This book teaches a lesson if you just open up your heart to hear it. The story is absolutely phenomenal and well written. The characters are relatable and believable. This book is a MUST READ or LISTEN to. I received this book for free upon my request. I am voluntarily leaving my honest and unbiased review here of my own volition.

Great story

Loved that there was a lesson in this book about not letting money shape how you treat those who are less fortunate.
