Acerca de esta escucha

Published in chronological order, with extensive story and bibliographic notes, this series not only provides access to stories that have been out of print for years, but gives them a historical and social context. Series editors Scott Conners and Ronald S. Hilger excavated the still-existing manuscripts, letters and various published versions of the stories, creating a definitive "preferred text" for Smith's entire body of work. This third volume of the series brings together 21 of his fantasy stories.

Reseñas editoriales

In this, the third of five volumes of definitive versions of Clark Ashton Smith’s collected works, various performers inspire with their interpretations of Smith’s literary voice when creating worlds of science fiction, fantasy, and horror. These edited and curated "preferred texts" are testimony to how underappreciated Smith’s talent is, even while recognizing his historic place as the third member of the Weird Tales unholy horror trinity, the other two being H.P. Lovecraft and Robert E. Howard. Smith’s appreciation for human sexuality, fondness for ribald humor, and strong female characters are all on display in these 21 mind-engaging, goose bump-inspiring short works.

These stories are a lot of fun. CAS is a wonderfully creative writer with a superb vocabulary. I love words and fancy that I know more than a few of them, but he leaves me reaching for a dictionary throughout each of his stories. The narrators are also very good. There are about 5 of them, which helps keep the long line of stories fresh, and each is very talented. Fans of HP Lovecraft and RE Howard will enjoy these stories.

These stories are super exciting, vivid, gorgeous. at times, they are campy, which to me adds to the fun. Sheer awesomeness.

Well-done audio book adaptation of the weird fiction short stories and novellas of Clark Ashton Smith, a master of the genre and a member of Lovecraft's circle, widely acknowledged to have been an early influence on D&D (who nevertheless did not make it to the Gygax Appendix N - an apparent glaring omission that has invited much speculation). Weird fiction encompasses much of what today would be classed as science fiction, fantasy, and horror, often macabre in tone. I loved these stories and highly recommend them!

More classic weird fiction from Clark Ashton Smith!
