A delightful collection of irreverent fairy tales

New stories told in the style of the fairytales you grew up with but with tragic/humorous endings. The authors use of description is on point and I could easily picture the creatures in the stories. The narrator does a stupendous job at bringing these stories to life and I definitely recommend that you pick up your own copy.

Absolutely delightful on all fronts

This book is spectacular on both sides - the stories are charming, hilarious, utterly weird, and so fun and the narrator's voice and performance is just perfect. It's rare I slow down enough during the day to listen to an audiobook but this short collection was an excellent way to start my morning. All the stories are funny but my favourite is probably the one about the messy wizard - though the gnome who doesn't fit in was also hilarious. I love the absurdity of the tales and the unique turns of phrase that keep the stories just a little off-kilter. So fun. On the narration side - the way Louis Taylor-Blake encompassed the various voices was delightful.

Fantastic stories read fantastically

I loved the book, but Louis Taylor-Blake’s perfect voice elevates the six stories within. Fun and funny, dark and twisted. Brings me back to fairy tales of the 80s

A glimpse into the darkly satyrical Othaside

If you enjoy the writing of Douglas Adams, you'll love the writing of Andrew Buckley and his tales of Othaside. This collection is a bit of a side-quest into the world of Othaside, a fantastical alternate universe featuring fairy tales from... another perspective. The stories and their characters are charming and the writing, witty. A dry, dark sense of humor brings this world to life...

Truly, my only complaint is that I want more. It just whets the appetite.

The narrator, Louis Taylor-Blake is brilliant. I couldn't imagine a better voice actor for this collection. It felt perfectly natural.

A Fun and Fantastical Collection

Buckley’s Horrible Fairytales is a delightful glimpse into the other world and the surprising and humorous follies of the creatures living there. These short stories are so well written and Buckley is a master at creating memorable and unique characters. The morals of the stories had me giggling. This is a perfect middle grade collection that any adult would also enjoy. The narrator was fantastic also!
