About this listen

With a new roof and working electrics in place on her villa in Italy, Rosie is ready for the next phase of turning the 22-roomed derelict Italian villa into a home. It needs to be ready in time for her elderly Irish parents to move in and her daughter to finally visit after being separated for so long. However, with renovation disasters, endless negotiations with the Shouty Woman at the bank, and the several shades of suffocating mold in every room, it seems like the house will never be a home for Rosie and her family, let alone her octogenarian parents from Ireland.

The overenthusiastic tradesmen who put water in the electrics and leave unexpected bills in the letterbox strengthen the thought that perhaps it would be easier to leave the "villa in Italy" dream behind and just pack up and move back to Ireland.

Funny women's memoir book.

Slice of life continuum with color!

I’m enjoying the series! As an Italian American who travels frequently to italy, I relate to her characters and locale. As a middle generation “child” caring for parents and kids, I empathize with her situation. And as one who enjoys storytelling I am enthralled with her ability to weave a tale with laughter, sorrow, and compassion.

Just love these books!

A huge move to Italy is in my imminent future and reading these books is preparing me for what’s to come.
Rosie’s Irish wit and humor resonate well with this displaced Welsh expat living in California.
The books are well written and entertaining while giving you a taste of what it’s REALLY like to deal with Italian bureaucracy!
It’s written from her heart and will warm yours. Great reads.
