A great third chapter!
I liked the first two books as well, but I have to admit that in this one the story and the characters really grew on me. Yes, as other reviewers pointed out, there is romance here and there, but not so much to be annoying. A must listen!

Best book of the series so far.
A great book for any fan of high fantasy, whether you prefer YA or stuff on the level of GoT. This story pretty much perfectly straddles that line. The characters are as compelling as ever and I spent over half the book fidgeting from nervousness at how things might develop, which rarely happens for me. The writing is excellent and the world is easy to imagine despite its huge scope. Will leave you desperate for the next installment!

Darkest book yet
This was such a dark book. I’m not sure how this series will end except in deep sorrow. The plots of the commandant are so dark that I’m not sure where or what she really wants. Im not sure who is in control her or the night bringer. The scholars are on their own. Elias is now out of their reach with his duties to the dead. I’m in despair for the plebes. Book 4 is much needed at this point.

Great Story and Read
The story is nonstop action. Really difficult to put down. Luckily, I had a couple of road trips to get through.
I did also enjoy the performances.
Lastly, the author provides something other than a purely western point of view. Her background serves her well and it is a joy to read.
