About this listen

Bethenny Frankel's no-nonsense, tell-it-like-it-is personality won over countless fans, and made her a nationally best-selling author and the star of her own hit Bravo show Bethenny Getting Married? Now Bethenny opens up and shares the obstacles she overcame and the great success she has enjoyed while discovering how to approach life from “A Place of Yes”.

Bethenny’s path was not always clear as she overcame a difficult childhood, failed relationships, entrepreneurial efforts that never quite got off the ground, and lifelong money struggles. To deal with these challenges, Bethenny developed 10 rules for pursuing her goals with authenticity and drive, including:

  • Find Your Truth: Dig deep inside and figure out what is authentic for you, not anybody else.
  • Act On It: You don’t have to have a master plan. But unless you do something, you’ve done nothing.
  • Everything's Your Business: Treat every job, person, and experience as if it could lead to your next big opportunity.
  • Own It: If you do it, say it, think it—then own it. Stand up for yourself and fully acknowledge who you really are.

Each rule is illustrated with compelling, sometimes funny, sometimes outrageous examples that are pure Bethenny. It’s easy to say no, to say “I can’t”, to expect the worst, and to doubt yourself. But your life can be better than “not bad” or “good enough”. It can be amazing. And by putting Bethenny’s rules together, you can use them to be more successful, more fulfilled, healthier, and happier than ever before.

Self-Help, Yet Story-Telling

If you could sum up A Place of Yes in three words, what would they be?

Find Yourself First.

What was one of the most memorable moments of A Place of Yes?

Bethenny's childhood at the horse races was a good story.

Would you listen to another book narrated by Bethenny Frankel?

I would. She will likely get better with experience. I didn't find it to be completely bland, but her voice could use a little more character while reading.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes. I actually brought it inside from the car (where I usually listen) to finish it faster.

Any additional comments?

This book was a fun read. I love relating to people and I felt that, especially during her cookie story, that I could really relate to Bethenny. I haven't seen some of the TV shows the talks about having been on, but I have seen a few episodes of RHONY and she doesn't come across as the most likeable in that capacity. In this format, she is much more relate-able and her life stories are interesting.

Relatable

I found the context quite relatable (at least for me) . I liked Bethenny's delivery in a no nonsense way.

Finished Book Quickly... Kept My Attention

Bethenny Frankel has inspired me in so many ways. She is someone that is real! Life wasn’t all pretty dinners in fancy dresses. She is very raw in her truth and tell the reader exactly how it really was for her. How she tells her story isn’t a chapter of complaining it’s a chapter of hardship and rising. I recommend this book to anyone who has had hard times or continues to, she teaches you how to turn your life into a place of YES!

Bethenny feels like your best friend!

This audiobook is a surprisingly fun listen. Anyone who loves Bethenny will love to hear her advice in "A Place of Yes." She is an excellent narrator! She has lived a very interesting life so far and she makes self-help seem not-so-depressing. :-)

I took off a star for "story" because I felt after a certain point, almost every chapter became redundant. She would keep on giving examples long after she had made her point clear. She talks a lot about "noise" and that is fine, but I think she referred to it wayyy too much in every single chapter. Maybe she was expecting that people wouldn't understand what she meant, but to me it seemed like beating a dead horse.

wish i would have listened earlier!

Bethany was soo relatable when moving to LA, changing careers, relationships and being such a strong independent woman in business yet not being outspoken in relationships and learning to communicate. It’s a must!!

A Place of Yes, Yes - But Her Voice Is a NO

Is there anything you would change about this book?

The message was valid, the presentation of the material was horrendous.

What didn’t you like about Bethenny Frankel’s performance?

Unfortunately for the listeners of this audio book, Bethenny Frankel's irritating and, monotonous reading skill almost ruins the message of the book. Another reader would increase the value of this presentation.

Was A Place of Yes worth the listening time?

If you can get past the voice, the message is worth listening to.

good viewpoints

Great opinions that I can relate too but she should rewrite this book and cut out every part about Jason.
