Publisher's summary

'Til death do us part....

They say every action you take has a series of consequences. And that death is an inevitable end.
There is truth to all of that, but for a price.
The precious thing you lost, might just find its way back to you....

Fourteen years ago, Blake Wilder's life turned into one of tragedy.
In an instant she lost her family.... Her parents murdered, and her sister taken.
At the age of 22, Blake joined the FBI in hopes of discovering the truth behind the mysteries of her past.

Now, she is called to a homicide scene involving a brutal murder of a male victim.
But, what started out as a simple case turns into one that involves a sadistic killer that preys on young women.

And the further Blake dives into the case the more she realizes that the killer has a dark and twisted fantasy life of romance and courtship.

And with his eighth victim already in his grasp, it’s up to her to get into the man's head and figure him out, before the clock runs out on this girl and he moves onto his ninth victim.

Roses are red.
Violets are blue.
What ever you do, don’t let him catch you.

Keeps you engaged, not a fan of narrator

I started this because I love crime thrillers and I wanted a series to keep me occupied a while! It’s an engaging story and keeps you hooked for more details in the next story. The climax was a little abrupt on this one, but I liked it overall.

I am not a fan of the narrator or how she makes Astra’s voice inflections. It’s cringey. And I’m supposed to like her character… other than that I recommend this title and series so far.

Interesting and exciting investigative story

I’ve always loved investigative stories, whether they the CIA, FBI. So far I’ve loved all the books that I’ve read and each book keeps you engaged so that you can continue with the next book and there’s always like a little hanger there and you must continue reading so you can find out what’s going to happen next and also praying that it doesn’t really happen and that the story ends your way.

Best series ever!

I love true crime and this all feels real. The plots and background story that follows from book one is incredible. All books in the series have been hard to put down, its not often I am intrigued and want to continue. Well done stories, must read.

Meh

While the premise is interesting and could be a recipe for an good series, the book falls flat. There is a lot of superficial dialogue between the characters such as sarcastic remarks that are corny rather than hitting the mark. It's hard to care about the characters and Astra and Blake act like the mean girls of their task force instead of smart, tough, capable FBI agents. The narration was all wrong for this kind of a story as it was read much too peppy with a jovial cadence which doesn't go with the subject matter. Also, there is too much "ball busting" between the characters. I usually don't mind that at all but it reads so forced in this book. The 2 main characters are constantly "snickering" and "holding back laughs" at things that are not funny none of the characters really have chemistry -even the "2 best friends". The constant one liners and repeating of things in the book eats up the time as if they were trying to fill the space. The whole discovery, pursuit and capture of the suspect is all wrapped up in the last hour.
