About this listen

Lady Verity wants nothing more than to provide a safe home for her sister, whose simple-mindedness is often misunderstood. When Lady Verity's father and husband both die, passing their house to a stranger, she vows to do whatever she must to ensure her sister's safety. The new earl has a reputation for being a rake, and Lady Verity is prepared to make him an offer he cannot refuse.

Daniel Palmer has run from his past for years, hiding from his failures and inadequacies by burying himself in cards, drink, and women. When a distant cousin and his heir both die, leaving Daniel with a title, house, and responsibilities he does not want, Daniel's impulse is to run. But his mother has different plans, and she invites the previous earl's widow and her two daughters to Arden Castle so they can become acquainted on neutral territory.

When the countess and her daughters arrive, Daniel quickly learns that Lady Verity is hiding something from him. But as he grows closer to the truth, he learns that not everything is as it seems—and how to measure the true worth of a soul. Book four in the Castles & Courtship Series, A Noble Inheritance is a sweet and clean Regency romance about reforming a rake and the trials faced by people with special needs in the 19th century.

Exceptional story

This exceptional story was both historical and relevant for today. It is not just a sweet romance with interesting characters, but carries important messages. Entertaining and intriguing, it kept me wanting to to listen to more.

While I dislike two narrators who each do all of the voices, both of these narrators were excellent!!!

Excellent

I first read the print version of this book, and then when the audiobook became available, I purchased it and listened to it as well. This is a keeper, a book I plan to listen to again after time passes. Well-written, interesting, and clean regency romance. Previously I read another reviewer's comments re concerns aboutthe Hero's alcohol use and recovery. As the wfie of a recovering alcoholic with AA connections who has now been 37 years sober, my own take is that there can sometimes be physical differences between "drinking" problems, as well as between other conditions. My own husband's sobriety success has required total abstence from alcohol, which is the case of those with whom we are acquainted, however, I have heard that there are some people more on the borderline of alcholism who can successfully apply strict limitations to their use of alcohol such as those used within this book. I was able to accept that concept as used by the author. Also I comfort myself with the fact that this story takes place in a short period of time within a fictional, make-believe world, and at some future time, the Hero could choose total abstinance as his behavior and have a HAE of longterm sombriety.

THANK YOU FOR THIS BOOK

As one with an autistic niece, this book explains much of her condition and how she sees the world. That she now has a great job and her own apartment, finding her independence was a major accomplishment. Excellent narration. Complex characters. Surprizing heroes. Love your books Kasey Stockton.

good story

I really liked the story. male narrator was great if he were the only narrator I would have given more stars. the female narrator has a BAD habit of taking a long LOUD deep breath at the beginning of sentences. it's annoying and takes away from the enjoyment of the story. I would give her only 1 star.
