Awesome and Real

I couldn’t stop listening to the book. For kids it made such a strong effort to consider the intersectionality if identity and how that impacts relationships. I can’t wait to read this with my students.

Initially I thought Shayla was to laid back and let people walk all over her. I felt Ike she muted her voice so others could be heard. In the end Shayla definitely grew into the young lady we all knew she could be! Amazing read

The book was fantastic I would never choice anorher fhe nattir was fabulous. My favorite part is when she trys to get in trouble in the end it was anazing everything about this book is anazing

5th grader loved this book

My 5th grader loved this book, then she was so excited to see it on the summer reading list for 6th grade. We listened to the book together while driving, and paused it to have discussions about the tough topics. Wonderful!

For The Young and the Old

I really didn't think I would enjoy this book so much. Was reading it just for my young niece. Boy was I surprised! Great for all ages and so appropriate for this time in our struggle with racism.
