About this listen

Creek Hollis is a single father raising his young son in the small town he himself was raised in. Lake is the center of his world. Creek received - not once, but twice - news no parent ever wants to hear. His little boy needs a donor.

One is found, and so this brings Kelly Marshall into their lives. Kelly Marshall lost someone close to her as a teenager. That loss made her want to become a nurse and help children with childhood cancers. When she is asked to participate in a program that would have her living in the Hollis home for a week, she has no qualms about doing it. In that week, lives are changed.

This is a clean listen with a HEA.

Sweet and sad tale

The love a man has for his son is evident in this heart-warming story. The romance is a pleasant addition. Friends and family help with the heart-breaking details. Thanks to Audiobooks Unleashed for a copy. My review is voluntary. I do believe the person that complained about the narrator must have a problem with their device. The man was a fine narrator and it was clear and understandable.

Possibly the worst narration ever.

Honestly, this seemed like it was on track to being a cute, sweet, quick read, but it was ruined for me as the narration was so awful that I couldn’t stand to listen in completion. No star-rating for the actual content.

3 stars for likable enough characters (what I saw /heard of them).
0 stars for the narrator.
And just a big: Whhyyyyyy for the author. Why would this author choose this narrator and /or approve this end result? I feel this narrator or production team completely preyed on the author here and I’m sad that the author didn’t realize they were being taken advantage of.

Awful performance.

Audio:
Wow. This is a terrible production and I’m shocked that the author or publisher would approve this. It’s extremely difficult to stand listening to due to:

-The narrator sounds like he’s under water.
-There’s constant underlying noise.
-Every time the narrator makes an ‘s’ sound, there’s like a static-y echo.
-Narrator doesn’t bother with any sort of ‘performing’, he sounds more like a robot. (Obviously, readers could have Siri or Alexa read the ebook to them if they want this experience and avoid the price of an audiobook, so again it’s strange to me that the author approved this.)
-There’s lots of cracking and other extraneous, unpleasant sounds throughout.
-Narrator stresses every other word, so that: THE entire PERFORMANCE sounds LIKE this!!!! Very strange and uncomfortable to listen to, sounds very unnatural.
