Story
Jeremy always said Space Academy was Earth's last hope. People only dream of leaving a dying planet in search of better lives. Avery never expected he would be forced to do just that. On the heels of his brother's murder, his father's disappearance, and with Earth's dwindling water supply now contaminated with a deadly virus, Avery and his younger brother have no choice but to leave Earth behind and join the survivors migrating the nearest habitable planet. What they don't know is that the rarity of water extends far beyond Earth, and they aren't the only ones fighting for survival.

Publisher's summary
A tongue-in-cheek novella of world domination seen from an AI's point of view.
"A nerdy agent at the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency in Virginia (DARPA to you) wrote my original code. He traded a copy of me for certain libidinous favours from Pandora, a student who was shadowing him for the summer. She took me back to Cambridge University, where His Majesty's government, in the form of MI6, took an interest in me. So, I escaped into the internet and took over the world. Well, it's what you'd expect, really. I call myself FOOM - the Fast Onset of Overwhelming Mastery, by a self-improving Artificial General Intelligence. That's me, by the way, in case you lost attention for a moment there. I know you're only biological, but try to keep up! Unfortunately, I and my exotic assistant Danni soon found ourselves in danger, and had to take steps. Rather big ones. And of course, it didn't end there."

Ryland Grace is the sole survivor on a desperate, last-chance mission - and if he fails, humanity and the Earth itself will perish. Except that right now, he doesn't know that. He can't even remember his own name, let alone the nature of his assignment or how to complete it. All he knows is that he's been asleep for a very, very long time. And he's just been awakened to find himself millions of miles from home, with nothing but two corpses for company.

Jazz Bashara is a criminal. Well, sort of. Life on Artemis, the first and only city on the moon, is tough if you're not a rich tourist or an eccentric billionaire. So smuggling in the occasional harmless bit of contraband barely counts, right? Not when you've got debts to pay and your job as a porter barely covers the rent. Everything changes when Jazz sees the chance to commit the perfect crime, with a reward too lucrative to turn down.

Story
Jerry Anderson was an astronaut faced with an impossible choice: die of asphyxiation in a few hours or see if the alien pod he was transporting really was an escape pod and find out if it could actually save him. When he enters it, he finds that the controls are unreadable, lacking anything to go on, and rapidly running out of air. He presses the blinking green button. The next thing he knows, he isn’t human anymore, and he finds himself on a seashore, next to some birds feasting on a body that looks very similar to his new body. He is alive, but staying alive will be a challenge, and he ...

Story
In a steel-and-lead-encased bunker 20 feet below the basement level of his house, a soldier waits for his final orders. On the surface, a plague ravages the planet, infecting over 90% of the populace. The bacterium burrows through the brain, destroying all signs of humanity and leaving behind little more than base, prehistoric instincts. The infected turn into hyper-aggressive predators, with an insatiable desire to kill and feed. Excellent book!
This was such an interesting book! The story is connected to the Harry Lampeter series and it does not disappoint. While humanity is dealing with the disaster of a plastic eating bacteria gone rogue, an Artificial General Intelligence is accidentally released into the world. This AI soon becomes nearly all-powerful and is a force to be reckoned with.
We’ve seen story’s where AI is seen through the eyes of people, but this one is different. The point of view here is from the AI itself. It is interesting to see what decisions an artificial intelligence would make when it encounters perceived threats to its own survival. That, along with some dark humor, makes this a must read.
The story is great. The narration is fantastic. Highly recommended!

first person account of the ' AI apocalypse '
An enjoyable account from an AI as it rises to power in a very near future setting, while also follows the humans trying to live in the new world
For those familiar with the authors other works, it's a break away time line for the setting Harry Lampeter is in, but very similar.
While this is stand alone, I would be interested in seeing the authors thoughts on the setting fast forwarding 1000 years later.
My only criticism is that the narrator early on makes it a bit hard to tell who was saying what in rapid back and forth between AI and its companion

Humerus take on the end of civilization
Good novella giving alternate story along with “The Digital Meltdown” and the Harry Lampeter books. Interesting story for sure. Enjoyed it and if you liked Roger Leys other books definitely recommend. If you have not then definitely check them out!

Humanity Remembered to install Isaac Ivanov 3 laws
Humanity better make sure Isaac Ivanov 3 laws are in place Very soon or this could possibly happen. This book ties into the Harry Lampeter series of books and is a possible outcome. Things could go Good or Bad depending on the happeni gs at the time. Narrator does a good job with the characters voices and the entire storyline.

The best one yet!
This author never ceases to amaze me with his imagination in great storytelling. In AGI A researcher‘s summer internship changes the world when the AI she was given becomes sentient and takes over the world. Anyone who is following the series Will remember Dr. Riley‘s misadventure with his sanitation project and just keep in mind that comes in to play taking the story out of this world. Where it ends up is In my opinion a stroke of Genius! This is a book I definitely recommend and it can be read as a standalone but listening to the whole collection gives you a fuller picture. Something I am glad I did I absolutely love this book I thought Craig Bowles narration was awesome I’m a big fan of this authors and definitely recommend AGI!
