Marcie Middleton's whole summer vacation was ruined when her father announced their family would be spending the summer away from home while he did some biology research for his company! She could only imagine the boring days ahead of her after listening to him explain the experiments his company was working on at the dinner table night after night! She had just graduated from high school and had plans with her friends! How could life be so cruel?

Her mother tried to lessen the blow by telling her they would be staying at a summer cottage with its own private beach. Marcie was excited about that until she learned that they would be all alone.
