A Christmas by the Sea

When Wendy Harper inherits her family's beach-side cottage in Seaside, Maine, she sees it as a way to finally pay off the debts that have mounted since her husband died. But before it can be sold, the neglected property must be renovated.

She and her 12-year-old son Jackson move in - temporarily, she reminds him - in order to do the work themselves, even though Christmas is coming. The charming town, along with local craftsman Caleb Colton, pulls on both Wendy and Jackson, who even registers himself for school in a bid to get his mom to move them there permanently. Wendy knows that the most responsible thing to do is to sell the cottage and return to Ohio, but the lure of the sea is hard to resist.

This was a sweet, yes somewhat predictable Christmas story. If you enjoy Hallmark Channel at Christmas, you’ll enjoy this!

Predictable cosy romance, annoying heroine

Whilst the story was predictable and an easy listen, it became gratingly hard to get through because of the whiny, simpering heroine. I couldn't muster any empathy for this constant damsel in distress who clearly was an unfit mother.

The story overall would've been a more enjoyable listen if the character was written even just a wee bit stronger.

It's a wonder some1 like that didn't end up in a ditch, bankrupt considering how incapable she seemed to handle simple adult decisions.

Hallmark movie in book form

This was OK, very predictable. Like reading a Hallmark movie. What a sweet story great for teenagers.

Feel good book

This was definitely like a Hallmark movie but it was a nice story and great for Christmas time. I enjoyed listening to it.

Easy Breezy Holiday Read

This book is a quick listen or read. It's clean with wholesome interaction and very light sexiness. I enjoyed the description of life in Maine and the small town setting. The teenage behavior is unrealistic and the ending was abrupt. I didn't hate it, it was just okay.

it was good and depicted real life struggles but offered a happy ending. A good Christmas read!

Feel good and sweet

Great shorter story/book about a single mom and her son during the holidays. Heart warming and easy to listen to. Also faith based and clean. Loved it.

Ok, if you just want to enjoy a sweet, warm and predictable story, this is it! I love that it takes place by the sea. It is a good and clean, Christian-based story. The narrator was fine. I’ll consider this a keeper.
