The 13 chapters of The Art of War, each devoted to one aspect of warfare, were compiled by the high-ranking Chinese military general, strategist, and philosopher Sun-Tzu. Lucas knows the perfect night entails just three things: video games, wine, and pad thai. Peanuts are a must! Other people? Not so much. Why complicate things when he’s happy alone? Then one day the apartment board, a vexing trio of authority, rings his doorbell. And Lucas’s solitude takes a startling hike. They demand to see his frying pan. Someone left one next to the recycling room overnight, and instead of removing the errant object, as Lucas suggests, they insist on finding the guilty party. But their plan backfires. Colossally.

Story
When I was a little girl, I dreamed a handsome knight would come and rescue me from my wretched mother. He'd ride up on his white steed and break the curse I've been fated to carry since the day I was born. Funny how things changed over time, how the fairytale twisted into something far more crooked—and darker—than I ever imagined. In reality, my knight is scarred and broken, living alone in a castle of bones that overlooks the sea. He isn’t searching for me. He never was.

Story
Two little girls stand with their heads bowed in my living room. I’m told they’re my granddaughters. Daisy is nine, and Alice seven. Daisy is the spitting image of her mother. This is the first time I’ve met them since my daughter and I fell out after she married that waste of space, Vince. They’ve come to live with me because their mother — my daughter — was murdered. In her own home while they slept close by. I think Vince killed her. But the police can’t prove it. I’ve always known he was no good. He treated my daughter like dirt. I said he’d cheat on her — but she wouldn’t listen.

This is such a great idea!
I really loved this because it's basically events that have happened through the 40s to 80s, and the author tells a story of an individual experiencing those events. The stories are sometimes funny, sometimes heartwarming, and even emotional at times. When you hear the reference to the historical event, it really makes you think back and remember what you were doing at the time. It's an easy way to look back at some of the positive events in the past and remember what your life was like then. If you are fond of nostalgia and enjoy looking back at the good times in your life, I think you'll really enjoy this.

This is a fun ride through the decades
As someone who was not around yet for most of these eras, this journey through the decades was a really fun experience. This author is a really good story teller and the narration really draws you in.
I really loved the different topics with varying points of view. Sprinkle in a touch of pop culture history and this is absolutely recommended for all ages, not just seniors.

Take a Little Trip Back in Time
Which decade was your favorite? Which one are you most curious about? You can pick and choose with this fun guide full of short stories for seniors. I went to the 90's and listened to a wonderful quote talking about how there were no viral stories and that you could still be yourself with your own thoughts...no one cared what those thoughts were and you were fine with that.
It is a nice to put on in the background for company or a laugh or two.
