About this listen

Whittaker passed the drinks over. “Anyway, it seems that he’s got himself into a bit of bother,” he continued. “A very serious bit of bother.”

“Bother?” repeated Kendall.

Whittaker heaved a sigh. “Yes you know,” he replied. “Trouble.”

Kendall nodded. “Oh trouble, I get you,” he said. “So what sort of bother are we talking about?”

Whittaker took another drink. “Well it’s a case of murder I’m afraid.”

“Murder,” repeated Mollie. Whittaker said nothing, but simply nodded agreement.

Another murder, thought Kendall. Just what I need. “Just stop right there, for a moment, and rewind will you,” he said. “Then let’s have it from the top, slowly.”

A case of murder

Most of the story is set in a small town where no one wants to open up to new comers. I don’t remember if the story has a year, but it has an older feel too it like a detective in the 20-40’s. The couple is a lot of fun and the story is detailed. I did feel like it was a bit slow paced. The narrator suites the story and pace.

Twists and turns!

Loved John Holt's mystery. It was well-thought out and I appreciated the sarcastic humor.

Peter John Borys did a great job of narrating. He brought the characters to life.

A Case of Murder

This is the first John Holt novel that I listened to and I can honestly say that I truly enjoyed it. The author wrote with intensity and a meticulous dedication to details. Peter John Borys performed one of the most entertaining narrations I have listened to.

The story revolved around an investigation carried out by an American P.I, upon the request of a Scotland Yard chief inspector, on a murder that occured in a small and quiet Irish town. There was a significant twist when another murder took place. The main character, Tom Kendall, was portrayed as your usual annoying private investigator, with his "one more question" lines. What I liked most about this book is the presence of colorful characters - each one with something important to say and prove.

Entertaining story. Frustrating twists and turns. Never ending questions. Lovable characters.

I am looking forward to listening to more Kendall adventures!

I throughly enjoyed this book. I found my self rewinding it as I missed something that was important. Definitely need to pay attention however well worth it. Jus as you think u know who did what there’s a twist to keep you on the edge of your seat. Also the narrator was on point with accents and sighs I felt like I was in the book!! Loved it

Another great Holt book.

I really liked this book. Book 6 finds Kendall in Ireland, a place I’ve always wanted to visit, at least I did when I thought I was Irish. Holt does a good job of putting the reader in the location, and the narrator handles the dialect nicely. Kendall’s wit is, as always, entertaining and Holt’s storyline flows well. If you haven’t read John Holt’s books you should. He’s a talented writer. Peter John Borys is a good narrator. The two make a good team.

Good story in Ireland

I really enjoyed the storyline, plot and characters. The Irish accent left something to be desired but I'd definitely like to read more in the series.

Another great detective story

A Case Of Murder: Kendall, Volume 6. Perhaps the most intriguing Kendall story so far. The dogged (Columbo like) detective is in Ireland and trying to establish a man's innocence.
A great read for a winters evening or 3.
Narration is smooth and Peters irish accent is engaging and very good.
