About this listen

My name is Lilith Mae Madison and I am captain of the Phoenix. There is something strange happening on my ship, something that cannot be explained.

On the other side of the known universe, we are waiting for a wormhole to open so we can return home with news that could save the human race, but someone, or something, has other ideas. My crew are being picked off one by one, and whoever is responsible is very, very strong, and very, very clever.

I'm struggling to hold onto my sanity while also maintaining control of my ship and crew. My trust is divided between John, my second in command and Maggie, head biogeneticist and my lover. John is impulsive and headstrong, and I am unsure of his full intentions. Maggie, on the other hand, is gentle, kind, loving and sweet, but I know she is withholding information from me...vital information!

With time and crew running dangerously low, I must find the killer before it's too late!

More a love story than a sci-fi adventure

47 is a provocative whodunit which takes place on the spaceship Phoenix, as the crew awaits the opening of a wormhole so they can return to their own solar system. This is more a love story, between Lilith (or Lily) and Maggie with John as a complication, that just happens to take place on a spaceship, than it is an actual sci-fi story. And speaking of complications, there are computer glitches and malfunctions throughout the ship which don't make sense and are hampering their ability to make their "connection". It's quite a wild ride.

That said, there's something desperately wrong with the audio production. It's echoey, like Ms. Green is reading from a dark cavern. It's also staticky, so her Ss are slurred. This was distracting and problematic. For example, it took me a good while to realize the character's name was John, not Tom, because the words were so muffled.

And while we're discussing the audio, in my opinion, the narrator would be much better suited to portray a gossipy character in a chick-lit novel. Her manner and accent are much too casual to play a military commander of a spaceship, though she did a decent job.

A real sci fi treat.

The only problem I had with this book, it left me wanting more. What a great space travel story. The narration was excellent. This would make an excellent series.

Very interesting

Definitely an interesting take on the end of the world, and survival. Good narration, although it sounds a bit tinny.

47 by Angela Peach

Although this is not my usual kind of read, I truly enjoyed this SciFi adventure. The characters were great and the narration by Megan Green was wonderful. I look forward to reading/ listening more books by Ms. Peach.

pretty good

If you like pure sci-fi then you really must listen to this. This book was masterfully executed. I did find some of the phrases and wordings to be a tad foreign (I am an American) but they did not detract from the novel at all. The main character is one of the most interesting character I've read in a long while

entertaining story

I enjoyed this somewhat surreal sci-fi murder mystery that takes place on a spaceship that is waiting for a wormhole to open so that the ship can return home. It’s an interesting mix of complicated relationships, space exploration, intrigue, romance and survival. The narrators British accent made for an interesting listen, though the recording did seem to cause her S’s to slur a little. This was an entertaining audiobook with a surprise twist at the end.

A different genre for me but good read

I enjoyed the story line. This is my second sci fi genre that I have listened to. The narrator had a lovely voice . But I felt it needed more emotion in delivering the narration. Not saying in any way that is wasn't good. Every one perceives things differently , including audio.

Not my typical listen

What three words best describe Megan Green’s voice?

I like the fact that the narration was in a British accent. it always makes my listens 10 times better.

Any additional comments?

the writing style of the book was great. It was out of my normal genre so it made the listen a bit harder because im not used to the terminology of sci fi. but overall the writing was great and the plot well developed
