Story
Ryland Grace is the sole survivor on a desperate, last-chance mission - and if he fails, humanity and the Earth itself will perish. Except that right now, he doesn't know that. He can't even remember his own name, let alone the nature of his assignment or how to complete it. All he knows is that he's been asleep for a very, very long time. And he's just been awakened to find himself millions of miles from home, with nothing but two corpses for company.

Jazz Bashara is a criminal. Well, sort of. Life on Artemis, the first and only city on the moon, is tough if you're not a rich tourist or an eccentric billionaire. So smuggling in the occasional harmless bit of contraband barely counts, right? Not when you've got debts to pay and your job as a porter barely covers the rent. Everything changes when Jazz sees the chance to commit the perfect crime, with a reward too lucrative to turn down.

On the surface, a plague ravages the planet, infecting over 90% of the populace. The infected turn into hyper-aggressive predators, with an insatiable desire to kill and feed. Bought it for the 'burgh elements and enjoyed -- A
I enjoyed the story and all the quirks. Since it started as a burgh thing I enjoyed driving through the parts the burgh I knew and followed all the way to east livervppmol Ohio. Story was well worth the read and unfortunately because Virtual Voice needs a review I am short changing mr Shotter's truly entertaining work of space opera on earth.
I used to try and listen to LibreVox audiobooks but really could not handle the choppy computer voice. 309 was read by Virtual Voice. A very pleasant female voice that did surprisingly well overall. If I hadn't known it was virtual I wouldd have picked it up daily quickly d/t see . One benefit I heard was the intense moments are more low key that is there were a human voice actor - I do get tired of screechy voiced in my head. There were some words that were tripped over or verbalized much differently than a human native English speaker.. sound quality varies by section - I;d be moving along at one volume then there was a cut and the volume went up 5 points for no apparent reason.
I would be happy to listen to outhe books voiced by virtual voice but only if there is a pool created to provide some nature of payment to the usual cadre of voice actors who could not get the gig because of the computer generated voice is doing a job they used to do with emotion and aplomb who mow are fighting for fewer and fewer story telling gigs!.
