J.P. Pomare
The violent slaughter of the Primrose family while they slept shocked the nation.
The family's young live-in chef, Bill Kareama, was swiftly charged with murder and brought to justice. But the brutal crime scarred the idyllic town of Cambridge forever.
Seventeen years later, true-crime podcaster Sloane Abbott tracks down prison psychologist TK Phillips. Once a fierce campaigner for an appeal, TK now lives a quiet life with Bill's case firmly in his past.
As Sloane lures a reluctant TK back into the fight, evidence emerges that casts new light on the Primroses - and who might have wanted them dead.
While the list of suspects grows, Bill's innocence is still far from assured. What will it cost Sloane and TK to uncover the truth?

I am an avid fan of murder mysteries and “who dunnits” and this kept me guessing! The set up is unique, the podcaster and the therapist. Great concept. This was a little more tension than watching a Brookenwood mystery but had the same feel. Very easy to put down and go back to later, without losing the plot line. Also, this is definitely not a “formula” mystery. It has new ideas and a new way to explore the story. There are a list of suspects but it wasn’t formulated to lean one way or another. I was surprised by the answers or lack there of!
Great book, going to look into more of this authors writings.

Poor Bill didn't stand a chance with the shotty job the justice system did with the Primrose family case. However, thanks to the true-crime podcaster, Sloane Abbott, there may be hope for him after all. With the help of Bill's prison psychologist, TK Phillips, Bill may get the justice he should've gotten in the first place. That is, if Sloane and TK manage to stay alive long enough to find credible evidence to vindicate Bill.
Incredible!

The female narrator was great. The story was enjoyable until the French au pair narration fiasco.
Male narration ruins this book.

I was hooked from the first chapter.
The characters are very well developed, the multiple perspectives add a lot of depth to the story, and it’s a mystery that’s utterly baffling until the final reveal.
A near perfect book.
My only complaints-the narration of Bill’s character isn’t great, the enunciation isn’t clear and his delivery is flat, it’s actually hard to understand what he’s saying at times.
The ending: without giving anything away-why wouldn’t he BOLT the door on his way out??? This was implausible and would’ve solved his problems in an instant.
It became harder and harder to believe that this insanely successful podcaster who’s “been around” a bit would be so sloppy that she would let anyone driving her around in on major discoveries in the case-that was simply not believable.
But the book is so entertaining, so unputdownable that these things are easy to forgive in the overall scheme of things.
This is phenomenal book, beautifully written and beautifully performed.
