Story
Over the past thirty years, Gregory Boyle has transformed thousands of lives through his work as the founder of Homeboy Industries, the largest gang-intervention program in the world. The program runs on two unwavering principles: (1) Everyone is unshakably good (no exceptions) and (2) we belong to each other (no exceptions). Boyle believes that these two ideas allow all of us to cultivate a new way of seeing. Every community wants to be a safe place, where people are seen, and then are cherished.

Story
How does one go from an atheist to a drug dealer, to a Rabbi? Growing up in New York City, Ira was an angry, disillusioned Orthodox Jew living with the hurt and shame of his parents' divorce. As a young adult, he wanted nothing to do with God or religion. Trying to find himself and his path in life, Ira pushed back on his father's beliefs and dropped out of college in Wisconsin and headed to Colorado where he earned a living in the "pharmaceutical business."

Story
You may ask the question from the title, "Why 38 Days of Christmas?" I am sure you thought it should be the 12 days of Christmas from the songs and stories that are told and sung during the Christmas Season, or my have thought that even with the addition of the Advent Season, we still would only have a month of Christmas, but in reality, not so. We must understand that Christmas really takes you out of one year and into the next, for you will find that in the Western tradition we celebrate Christmas at the end of the year, however in the Eastern traditions of the church, Christmas in at the...

Story
A cat with a divine mission, Sula has an uncanny ability to sense which parishioners at Old Mission San Juan Bautista (California) need her attention at any given Mass. But...is it really uncanny, or does St. Francis give Sula tasks during her daily conversations with him? Or is she led by God? Sula has developed a special bond with cancer survivors like herself. The bond between her and the Old Mission parishioners saw her through two bouts of cancer, flooding her with gifts: money for surgery, a home for recovery, prayers, and love. In these pages, you will find charming, endearing, and ...

Story
While visiting Siena, Italy, Mary Lea Carroll grew fascinated with the remarkable story of St. Catherine of Siena and made a resolution: Whenever she was lucky enough to travel, if a shrine dedicated to a female saint was nearby, she'd visit it and learn about her. What started as a hobby grew into a journey she never expected, one rich with challenges and cappuccinos, doubts and inspiration, glasses of wine with strangers and moments of transcendence.

Story
“I give him ten hours to live.” That’s what the doctor said after diagnosing twenty-two-year-old Brian Wills with one of the deadliest and fastest-growing cancers, known as Burkitt’s lymphoma. Incredibly, this rare tumor grew from the size of a golf ball to nine inches in diameter in only three days. Thus began Brian’s life-threatening battle—both physical and spiritual—to receive a full recovery by focusing on God’s powerful promises of healing.

Story
Father Charles Coughlin was a controversial Canadian-American Catholic priest based in Michigan. Calling for monetary reforms, the nationalization of major industries and railroads, and protection of the rights of labor, Coughlin used weekly radio broadcasts to reach a mass audience of up to thirty million listeners during the 1930s. An early supporter of Franklin D. Roosevelt and his New Deal, Coughlin later became a harsh critic. Coughlin’s commentary also became more anti-semitic, and he supported some of the fascist policies of Hitler, Mussolini, and Hirohito.

Story
On April 27, 1934, a little boy was born who grew up to become a vagabond evangelist in patchwork pants fiercely daring us to believe a line too good to be true—God loves you as you are and not as you should be. His name was Brennan Manning. He boldly preached of the love of Jesus vast, unmeasured, boundless, and free. And he always faithfully pointed to a tender, elemental fury that blows where it wills; in a word, grace.

Story
